This Week on WETA UK: June 2-8

New month means new seasons and adventures on your favorite WETA UK shows! Check out what the WETA UK Programmers are highlighting in this week's schedule.

Monday at 8pm season 2 of Pie in the Sky begins! Henry Crabbe has reached the end of his tether as a plain clothes Detective Inspector. After years of toiling in the force, he is about to take early retirement. With a passion for food and a talent for cooking, he is ready to fulfill his own personal dream - to buy his very own restaurant, Pie In The Sky. However nothing is ever that simple. On the eve of his retirement, he is suspended from duty. His boss, assistant Chief Constable, now has him exactly where he wants him and is not going to allow him to join his idyll in peace - Crabbe is free to indulge in his restaurant but always on call when cases need solving.

Tuesday at 8pm Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries takes on “Death at Victoria Dock”. It’s the 1920s in Melbourne, Australia and the Honorable Phryne Fisher is a glamorous “lady detective” goes about her work with a pistol close at hand—and, more often than not, a male admirer even closer. To the dismay of Detective Inspector Jack Robinson, Phryne’s investigations take her through back alleys, jazz clubs, and shady neighborhoods. Beneath her devil-may-care attitude, Phryne hides ghosts from the past that continue to haunt her. In this episode, Phryne investigates the murder of a young man with a blue tattoo who died in her arms.

Wednesday at 7:30pm season 7 of My Family begins! A dentist discovers that dealing with his clan is like pulling teeth in this biting British sitcom. Ben Harper and his acerbic wife Susan trade barbs as they struggle to raise their fractious brood. Season 7 opens as Ben is asked to be a sperm donor for a couple he and Susan met on vacation, and the request goes straight to his head. Meanwhile, Kenzo's father shows up in hopes of getting to know his son.

Thursday beginning at 8pm watch four great British comedies. At 8pm catch Moone Boy:  A warm family comedy series about a young boy growing up in a chaotic and creative household in late 1980s Ireland. At 8:30pm Worst Week of My Life continues: A British variation of `Meet the Parents' that chronicles the disastrous week prior to a wedding as a bride and groom cope with jitters, tensions and mishaps, ranging from her disapproving parents to his crazed ex. At 9pm Lead Balloon continues: A British comedy series following the misadventures of a cynical, disillusioned stand-up comedian. At 9:30pm Outnumbered closes out the comedy line-up: A British comedy about a couple and their three kids. In this week’s episode, Sue's sister Angela visits with her new husband, an American therapist.

Friday at 10:30pm catch the WETA UK premiere of Frankie. A heroine for the modern age, district nurse Frankie Maddox looks life and death in the eye on a daily basis; her mission is to make a difference. Frankie is an infectious character, she’s electric and quirky, absolutely wonderful at her job and adapts to every situation life and work can throw at her as she tries to live in the fast lane and juggle her work at the same time. This heartwarming and funny series follows Frankie and her eclectic team as they visit their patients at home and takes a look at ordinary lives, which are often in huge domestic crises.

Saturday at 9pm join WETA UK for Masterpiece Classic: Downton Abbey season 1 episode 1. The bold and beautiful Downton Abbey estate runs smoothly from generations of excellent care, but change is coming. With enticing drama and terrible threat, the future of Downton's dynasty takes shape but is it possible to preserve? Follow the upstairs, downstairs dynamic in this beautiful period drama from PBS.

Sunday at 8pm Hotel Secrets with Richard E. Grant comes to a close with the final episode “French Riviera”. The actor's series exploring the world's most luxurious hotels concludes on the glamorous French Riviera. Beginning at the Hotel de Paris in Monaco, he is shown the art of perfect fine dining before meeting ex-Formula One driver David Coulthard, who explains why he chooses to call Monaco home. Richard then visits the Hotel Byblos in St. Tropez, where Mick Jagger and Bianca De Macias tied the knot in 1971, before paying a visit to Belles Rivers.
