This Week on WETA UK: December 15-21

Monday at 7:30pm tune in for the My Family holiday special “Ho Ho No”. Susan's scheme to lure Ben to a country house for a Christmas for two and then 'surprise' him with the family on Christmas Day is doomed. Only the turkey is left unscathed.

Tuesday at 9:45pm Doc Martin season 2 begins with “Old Dogs”. Dr. Martin Ellingham is still as clumsy as ever when it comes to forming relationships with the opposite sex. Just when things are beginning to look rosily romantic between him and pretty school teacher Louisa Glasson, he makes a terrible faux pas.

Wednesday at 8pm Inspector Morse begins season 2 with “The Settling of the Sun” part 1. Jane Robson asks Morse to present a crossword prize at a summer school in Lonsdale College and while he is dining with a group of overseas students, a young Japanese man dies in what seems to be a brutal ritual killing. It turns out that Morse has unwittingly given all his best suspects a watertight alibi. Catch part 2 next Wednesday (12/24) at 8pm!

Thursday at 12:30pm catch another My Family holiday special “Have an Unhappy Christmas”. Ben's efforts to buy Susan's Christmas present get him into trouble  and Susan's letter from The Palace means a change of holiday plans for everyone.

Saturday at 11am Red Dwarf season 5 begins! In the first episode “Holoship”, Rimmer is transmitted from Red Dwarf to the advanced Holoship Enlightenment which contains the cream of the Space Corps. Sunday at 10pm Robin Hood season 2 continues with “Ducking and Diving”. A horrified Robin realizes that his plan to capture the Sheriff’s spy, Henry of Lewes, has failed because he has a traitor in his gang. Fearing for Marian’s safety in the castle, Robin sets about rooting out the turncoat.

This Week on WETA UK: December 8-14

Monday at 4pm Hustle season 4 begins! The hustlers are back and off to sunny Los Angeles for their first con without old leader, Mickey. New boss, Danny, is out to prove himself and talks them into a scam, which might prove to be way over their heads.

Tuesday at 8pm WPC 56 continues with “Little Boy Lost”. Gina's life is put in mortal danger when an attempt to lure the killer takes a deadly twist. Meanwhile, Jack makes a horrifying discovery about the killer's past, but can he get to Gina in time?

Wednesday at 9pm the Original House of Cards trilogy ends with The Final Cut part 4. This dramatic and suspenseful political drama ends here and won’t disappoint! If you miss it Wednesday, watch it Friday at 6:30pm or Sunday at 7pm!

Thursday at 8:30pm Twenty Twelve season 2 begins. The documentary cameras continue to follow the men and women responsible for delivering the London Olympic Games as they paddle increasingly hard to keep the games on track and on budget.  

Friday at 10pm Miss Marple returns to the WETA UK schedule! In “Murder at the Vicarage” when the hated Colonel Protheroe is found murdered in the sleepy village of St Mary Mead, Miss Marple is puzzled why so many people want to confess.

Saturday at 10:30pm Inside Claridge’s begins! Claridge's, in the heart of London's Mayfair, is a five star luxury hotel favored by royalty and celebrities. For the first time in its long history, this famously discreet institution has opened its doors to documentary cameras.

Sunday at 4pm watch the two part Foyle’s War episode “The French Drop”. English agent Facteur is killed when he steps on a mine after landing in the French countryside.

This Week on WETA UK: December 1-7

Monday at 9pm new mystery series Doctor Blake Mysteries begins! Watch three episodes back-to-back-to-back from 9pm-11pm. Set in the late 1950s, Dr. Lucien Blake returns to a place he once called home to take over his deceased father's medical practice. Everything seems peaceful on the surface but the regional town clashes with the tensions and fears of the decade to come.

Tuesday at 7pm begin Chef! from episode 1. Gareth Blackstock is the executive chef at Le Château Anglais and he is infuriated when management cuts his budget. He is one up on the budget when Everton shows up and volunteers his service as sous chef for no compensation in order that he can train in the most famous kitchen in England.

Wednesday at 7pm British comedy Me & Mrs. Jones begins! The series follows the increasingly complex life of Mrs. Gemma Jones as she balances love, affection, and motherhood between an ex-husband, one grown-up son, two young daughters, and male admirers with a 20-year age gap. In the premiere episode, Gemma's life changes when her son returns from travelling and a friendly parent named Tom asks her out on a date.

Thursday from 6am-8am watch four episodes of Antiques Roadshow: BBC. Be sure to tune in every weekday during this time slot for the same great line-up!

Friday at 8pm Rosemary & Thyme take on the case of “Orpheus in the Undergrowth”. Laura and Rosemary are brought in by old friend Julia Moore to design a memorial garden, based on the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Julia is housing Laura's distraught daughter Helena, in a flat overlooking the communal square gardens where Laura and Rosemary are working. Helena is angry with her mother, thinking that she is responsible for her marriage break-up, and Laura is keen on healing the rift. But family matters are put on hold when Jeremy Pearson, another tenant of Julia's, is found dead in the communal garden.

Saturday at 9pm Masterpiece Classic: The Paradise season 2 concludes with the 7th and 8th parts. In the finale, Clémence returns but finds herself beholden to Weston; Moray makes a daring play for the store; and Denise sees a future for herself beyond the confines of the Paradise.

Sunday at 8pm Ladies of Letters season 2 begins! Watch two back-to-back episodes every Sunday beginning at 8pm. In episode 1, after a long breakdown in their friendship, Irene and Vera have a disastrous reunion at the funeral of a gentleman friend. Then in episode 2, Vera moves to a trailer park on a cliff top, falls in with some very suspicious company and — hearing that Irene has been gossiping about her to a mutual friend — sends a friendly thug from the trailer next door to sort her out.

This Week on WETA UK: November 24-30

Monday at 10:30pm Agatha Christie’s Poirot, the final season, concludes with “Curtain: Poirot’s Last Case”. A wheelchair-bound Poirot calls on Hastings, whose wife recently passed away, to join him at Styles Court the site of their first murder case some 30 years earlier to investigate possible serial killer.

Tuesday at 9:45pm Doc Martin begins from season 1 again! In this episode, “Going Bodmin”, Dr. Martin Ellingham arrives in a Cornish hamlet to take over the local doctor's office, but the residents are wary of the flashy newcomer.

Wednesday at 10pm Masterpiece Mystery! Inspector Lewis season 6 continues with “Intelligent Design”.  Lewis and Hathaway investigate the murder of a chemistry professor who had just been released from prison after serving time for causing a death while driving. At the same time, Lewis contemplates his future on the force.

Thursday at 3pm on Waking the Dead, season 7 opens with the investigation of a nurse who saved her daughter from a mugger when the woman's DNA is linked to a case from the 1990s that was far more than it had appeared at first.

Friday at 4pm Hustle season 3 begins. The gang targets a bar owner who smuggles in illegal aliens to work in his pub, and whose talentless son wants to become a hip-hop star. When their music-industry scam backfires, Ash must come up with an alternate plan.

Saturday at 1:30pm catch Agatha Christie’s Poirot in “The Adventure of the Western Star”, a case involving diamonds, blackmail, and an ancient curse piques Poirot's interest. Then at 2:30pm on Sherlock Holmes “The Abbey Grange”, Holmes is called to a manor house to investigate the brutal murder of a country lord with a fireplace poker and reconcile the story of his bruised and battered wife with the facts.

Sunday late night (Monday 12am) Red Dwarf begins from the very first episode! A radiation leak wipes out the crew of the mining ship Red Dwarf, leaving only one survivor – chicken soup machine repair man, Dave Lister. After three million years in suspended animation, Lister emerges to find he is the last human being in the universe. But he is not alone.

Monday at 8pm in Pie in the Sky “Pork Pies”, Henry and the squad visit a meat factory where animal rights protesters want the owner Mr. Trubb to stop using veal in his Trubbs' Thunderbolt sausages. Margaret is concerned that her friend Julia, a wealthy widow, is dating a young pilot.

Tuesday at 10:30pm British comedy Rev begins from the very first episode! Meet The Rev. Adam Smallbone. He's a Church of England Vicar, newly promoted from a sleepy rural parish to the busy, inner-city world of St Saviour's in Hackney, East London. Alex - Adam's long-suffering wife - does her best to support him, but she's got her own career as a solicitor to worry about. Anybody can and does come into St. Saviour's, from scheming MPs trying to educate their children on the cheap to Colin, a heavy drinking, unemployable lost soul.

Wednesday at 9pm tune in for the beginning of The Final Cut, the last season of the original House of Cards. In the opener, Francis Urquhart is looking to leave a legacy in Europe so he supports a treaty resolving the Cyprus conflict.

Thursday at 10pm Scott and Bailey season 2 begins. This investigative drama explores the personal and professional lives of two female detectives Rachel Bailey and Janet Scott. Each episode sees the women deal with serious crimes that are both challenging and emotionally difficult as well as cope with their own complex personal lives. Watch Scott and Bailey Thursdays at 10pm and 11pm.

Friday at 5am catch the classic British drama Monarch of the Glen from episode 1! Archie MacDonald is called to his ailing father’s bedside at a lochside mansion in the Scottish Highlands. For tax reasons, they have turned over ownership of the rundown Glenbogle estate to Archie. Molly has also rigged things so that escape back to his London bistro is not on the menu just now. Archie must stay to solve two crises: a crooked estate manager, and the rustling of valuable osprey eggs.

Saturday at 11pm Robin Hood season 2 begins with “Sisterhood”. Robin and the gang have been busy constructing their ingenious new camp, but when Knighton Hall is razed and Marian and Edward are taken to the castle under house arrest, it’s clear that the rules have changed.

Sunday at 10pm Ashes to Ashes season 2 continues with episode 6. A dead body found floating in a canal is identified as Colin Mitchell, a man recently reported missing by his glamorous wife, Donna. Gene discovers that Colin worked for Trevor Riley, a nasty loan shark with a habit of hurting those who mess with him. A ruthless capitalist, Riley invokes terror in the community he controls and Gene sets his sights on bringing down this cocky, unscrupulous villain.

This Week on WETA UK: November 10-16

Monday at 7pm new British comedy Vicious continues! Freddie and Stuart invite Ash and his new girlfriend Chloe to dinner. Infrequent acting work has been getting Freddie down but things are looking up for Ash who has fallen in love with what seems to be the perfect woman. As the evening progresses, Chloe’s habits stop seeming so sweet and tensions mount over dinner. Violet, meanwhile, is having difficulty with her lover in Buenos Aires.

Tuesday at 8pm WPC 56 premieres! Set in England's West Midlands in the 1950s, this new hit series follows Gina Dawson, the first woman police constable (WPC) hired to serve in her hometown. Struggling to gain acceptance in a male-dominated world, she battles sexism and corruption while trying to be a good cop.

Wednesday at 9pm don’t miss the original House of Cards: To Play the King finale! As the opposition, who is supported by the popular King, seems to be heading for a victory at the election polls, Prime Minister Urquhart needs to take drastic measures. He also has to deal with two people in his close surroundings who might pose a problem.

Thursday at 9pm Prime Suspect continues. D.C.I. Jane Tennison is a skilled, top-class detective, battling to prove herself in a male world. In this episode, Tennison investigates the murder of a young girl, whose body was found in a shallow grave in an Afro-Caribbean neighborhood.

Friday at 10am Monarch of the Glen season 7 begins. It’s a time of mixed emotions for Golly. Following the sudden death of his partner, Meg, he is looking after baby Cameron alone. A long, hard winter has taken its toll on Glenbogle and the laird, Paul, is faced with a growing repair bill for his tenants’ crofts. Donald – having gambled away the deposit for a new generator – hatches an elaborate plan to repay the debt before Paul discovers the truth. And Ewan faces money worries of his own when his demanding girlfriend, Zoë, pressures him into booking a holiday abroad. Meanwhile, Paul and Iona meet and it becomes clear that there’s a spark between them.

Saturday at 8pm Last Tango in Halifax season 2 begins. Alan and Celia continue to negotiate family baggage to plan a life together. Then at 9pm Masterpiece Classic: The Paradise season 2 begins, Moray and his “little champion” Denise find true love a very bumpy ride indeed, as Katherine and her new husband scheme to wreck their lives. Joanna Vanderham stars as Denise, with Emun Elliott as Moray, Elaine Cassidy as Katherine, and Ben Daniels as Katherine’s moody, malevolent spouse.

Sunday at 11pm Doctor Who season 3 begins with “Smith and Jones”. For Martha Jones, a medical student in Central London, an ordinary day turns into a nightmare when her entire hospital is transported to the Moon. There, she has to battle the Judoon and outwit a blood-sucking Plasmavore – but can she trust a mysterious stranger called the Doctor?

Thursday at 10pm watch two back-to-back episodes of Scott and Bailey! A thrilling investigative drama exploring the personal and professional lives of two female detectives: Constable Rachel Bailey is 30, down-to-earth, noisy, argumentative and single and Constable Janet Scott, is 40, a diplomat and a thinker, as well as being a wife and mother.

Friday at 9pm Death in Paradise begins again from episode 1. Catch three episodes back-to-back all night! A warm, light-hearted detective series which takes place against a stunning Caribbean island backdrop. Sent to the tiny island of Saint-Marie to solve a mysterious murder, quintessentially British cop Richard Poole is a total fish out of water. His new partner, DS Camille Bordey is instinctive, feisty and brilliant, and the rest of the team certainly have their own unique way of doing things.

Saturday at 11am Red Dwarf begins season 4 with the episode “Camille”. Kryten, Red Dwarf's on-board mechanoid, rescues a female droid – Camille – from a crashed vessel. She's a 4000 series just like him, only a GTi model with realistic toes and a slide-back sunroof head. Kryten finds himself falling in advanced mutual compatibility on the basis of a primary ident (what humans call "love at first sight"), only to find that true advanced mutual compatibility never runs in a non-glitch, bug-free way.

This Week on WETA UK: October 20-26

Monday at 6pm Ashes to Ashes season 2 begins. Season kicks off in 1982 where Margaret Thatcher is in her element and bullish DCI Gene Hunt is back, policing the streets in his politically incorrect and loud-mouthed style. Sassy Alex Drake, whom Hunt shares a fiery working relationship with, is by his side, desperately trying to keep him in line.

Tuesday at 8pm Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries takes on “Dead Air”. Dot's new favorite radio show is interrupted by an on air panic then the radio station's bookkeeper and budding announcer are found choked to death. When Phryne gets involved, she finds Jack already undercover as the newsreader and she soon realizes that she doesn't want to relinquish working for Miss Fisher when she marries.

Wednesday at 9pm begin the second series of The Original House of Cards titled To Play the King. This sequel to the original House of Cards continues to follow the devilish Francis Urquhart. After managing to become the British prime minister and crush all significant opposition, his survival on the top is threatened by a liberal monarch and a few skeletons in the closet.

Thursday at 8pm Moone Boy joins the comedy lineup. This entertaining semi-autobiographical series is written by and stars Chris O’Dowd as the imaginary friend of 11 year old Martin, the youngest child in the large, loud Moone family. Martin has a unique view of life, dealing with enterprising school bullies with the help of his imaginary friend. But while most boys would dream up a superhero sidekick, Martin’s pal is a man in his mid-30s with the most common name in Ireland.

Friday at 10pm experience Masterpiece Mystery! The Escape Artist. David Tennant stars as defense lawyer Will Burton, nicknamed “The Escape Artist” for his ability to spring the obviously guilty. After a man is charged with a gruesome murder, Will Burton must find a way to disprove the strong evidence against the charged subject. Watch the legal battle as strange and disturbing things begin to happen. The tables are turned—and then turned again.

Saturday enjoy the classic British mysteries. At 1:30pm Agatha Christie’s Poirot “The Cornish Mystery”, much to Poirot's chagrin, he arrives too late in Cornwall to prevent Mrs. Pengelley's death. She had asked for his help, suspecting her dentist husband to be poisoning her so that he could marry his young assistant. After conducting preliminary interviews, Poirot is sure that Mrs. Pengelley was not murdered by her husband and sets about finding the real killer. At 2:30pm Sherlock Holmes “The Norwood Builder”, Holmes must prove the innocence of a solicitor and foil the efforts of Inspector Lestrade.

Sunday at 9pm watch modern, action-drama Robin Hood. In this episode “Dead Man Walking”, a routine trip to Locksley to collect new weaponry descends into chaos when Robin and Little John witness a brutal tax collection, the capture of their bow-maker and worse – the arrest of Little John’s son. Little John tries to save his son but it is a futile gesture, and within seconds he too is carted off to the castle dungeons. But fate has a hand to play, and when Alice Little joins them in prison, estranged husband and wife are temporarily reunited.

Monday at 10:30pm tune in for special episode Born to Royalty! This documentary profiles Prince George, the son of Prince William of England and Kate Middleton, and explores what the royal child's life might be like.

Tuesday at 10:30pm Vicious makes its WETA UK premiere! This British sitcom features a graying gay couple (Ian McKellen, Derek Jacobi) with a witty and sharp relationship. The series opens with the pair hosting a wake for a dear friend.

Wednesday at 8pm Inspector Morse begins from season 1 with “The Dead of Jericho”. Morse has hopes of a blossoming romance with piano teacher Anne but his hopes are shattered when she is found murdered.

Thursday at 7:30pm My Family begins season 4! Ben Harper is a moderately successful family man and dentist. He's undergoing a mid-life crisis and trying to cope with the bizarre reality of raising teenage children. Along with his wife Susan and their three children Nick, Janey, and Michael, the Harper family makes for a hilarious British comedy.

Friday at 8pm Rosemary and Thyme begins from season 1! In the episode "And No Birds Sing"
Rosemary Boxer and Laura Thyme discover they share more than a love of gardening when a suspicious fatal car accident brings them together at the house of wealthy businessman Daniel Kellaway.

Saturday at 3:26pm Midsomer Murders starts with season 8 “Things That Go Bump in the Night”. Fletcher's Cross undertaker Patrick Pennyman is found dead in his own chapel of rest with a shocked look on his face. Barnaby and Scott try to uncover the mysteries of the church as well as trying to unmask the brutal killer.

Sunday at 11pm watch Doctor Who “Love and Monsters”. An ordinary man called Elton becomes obsessed with the Doctor and Rose and their mysterious blue box. But when Elton’s investigations bring him to the attention of the enigmatic, cold, and powerful Victor Kennedy, his harmless hobby suddenly plunges him into a living nightmare.
