Monday at 8:00pm Christopher Foyle begins a new case in Foyle’s War: A Lesson in Murder. It’s June 1940 and a reliable objector dies in a holding cell after being beaten up by police. A young boy evacuated from London dies in an explosion. Strange ties to Judge Gascoigne in these deaths lead police to believe there will be a revenge attack on the Judge. Who’s to blame? It may not be as straight forward as you think! More air dates.

Tuesday at 11:30pm begin season 9 of the British classic Allo, Allo. Be sure to tune into this final season of Allo, Allo, a sitcom set in a small town café in Nazi-occupied France during World War II.

Wednesday at 8:00pm watch Inspector Morse tackle the mystery of Cherubim and Seraphim. Morse's step-niece, Marilyn Garrett, commits suicide and he takes leave to research her past. His investigation leads him into an alien world of teenage hedonism, raves and expensive drugs. Will Morse find closure in investigating her history or add salt to his wounds? More air dates.

Thursday at 10:00pm test your crime-solving skills with Waking the Dead: Straw Dog. Grace is asked to give evidence at a hearing from a case she worked on in the beginning of her career. This haunts Grace but will she overcome her distress and help the case? More air dates.

Friday at 8:00pm tune in for the WETA UK premiere of Ladies of Letters. This British comedy series starring Patricia Routledge and Prunella Scales surrounds the relationship between two elderly ladies who share a sometimes rocky relationship through letters and e-mail. More air dates.

Saturday 8:00pm – 11:00pm join us for the special airing of She-Wolves: England’s Early Queens. In this three part series, historian Dr. Helen Castor explores the lives of seven English queens who challenged male power, the fierce reactions they provoked and whether the term 'she-wolves' was deserved. Also airs Sunday March 31 12:00pm – 3:00pm.

Sunday at 8:00pm kick off season 2 of Yes, Prime Minister! Prime Minister Jim Hacker is still guided by his Machiavellian mentor, Sir Humphrey Appleby. When Jim decides to implement a new plan to reduce unemployment in the North, Sir Humphrey decides that desperate cases call for desperate measures. Meanwhile, if the Prime Minister gives false information to Parliament, should the Cabinet Secretary support him, or should he tell all? As Sir Humphrey ponders the ethics, he finds that he too has something to hide. More air dates.

This Week on WETA UK | WETA UK Schedule February 19 - 24

This week, WETA UK has lots of new shows for you to try out. We begin the newest season of PBS Downton Abbey season 3 from the very beginning; we premiere the brand new crime dramas Death in Paradise and Dalziel & Pasco; we kick off new seasons of New Tricks, Waiting for God, and Red Dwarf; and we start the new WETA UK Event: Return to Cranford. Tuesday begin watching Downton Abbey season 3 from the very first episode! This dramatic season brings even more excitement and surprises than before. Tune in Tuesdays at 8:00pm beginning tonight for season 3 of Masterpiece Classic: Downton Abbey. Also airs Wednesday at 3:00pm.

Wednesday join us at 9:00pm for the WETA UK premiere of the new drama Death in Paradise. A light-hearted detective series which takes place against a stunning Caribbean island backdrop. Sent to the tiny island of Saint-Marie to solve a mysterious murder, quintessentially British cop Richard Poole is a total fish out of water. His new partner, DS Camille Bordey is instinctive, feisty and brilliant, and the rest of the team certainly has their own unique way of doing things. Though Richard would never admit it, they make the perfect team, and with a new mind-boggling mystery to solve every episode, Death in Paradise will intrigue and tantalize. Also airs Thursdays at 4:00pm & Saturdays at 6:00pm.

Wednesday at 10:00pm kick off season 1 of our new series Dalziel & Pasco. Andy Dalziel does not suffer fools gladly, but he has even more trouble with what he calls the "smart arses" of this world. So when the inexperienced, soft-spoken, whiz-kid graduate Peter Pascoe joins his team at Mid-Yorkshire CID, there could be problems. Pascoe is one of the new breed of career police officers, armed with a degree in Social Sciences, a caring attitude and a sharp brain. At first Pascoe is somewhat taken aback by his brash and ballsy boss, but it soon becomes apparent there is more to Andy Dalziel than meets the eye. Also airs Thursdays at 5:00pm & Saturdays at 7:00pm

Thursday at 11:00pm dive into season 6 of New Tricks. Detective Superintendent Sandra Pullman and her unconventional team of ex detectives – Jack Halford, Brian Lane and Gerry Standing – reinvestigate more unsolved murders and cold cases with their trademark conflict over procedure and rules. 

Friday tune in for the first episode of season 5 of the comedy series Waiting for God at 7:00pm. Bayview is a purpose-built complex with one chalet to each resident, looked after by the skinflint manager, Harvey Baines, his adoring half-witted helper, Jane, and nurse Jenny. Unfortunately, their ideas on how old people should behave are wildly at odds with some of the residents' – especially the ringleaders, Tom and Diana. Also airs Tuesday at 10:30am.

Saturday beginning at 8:00pm, watch the first two parts of WETA UK Event: Return to Cranford. Change is coming to the 1840s, small, close-knit village of Cranford run by the women of the town. The Industrial Revolution is upon them and change as well as romance is in the air. When a shocking event disrupts Cranford from its innocence, can a bit friendship save the day? Also airs Sundays at 12:00pm.

Sunday at 11:00pm season 5 of Red Dwarf begins! This season, Rimmer gets a hard-light drive enabling him to touch and feel, a dose of luck virus rescues Lister, Cat, and Kryten from an all-sprout diet in quarantine, the boys encounter their evil selves, and it seems that they are not really who they think they are at all, when their time on the virtual reality game Red Dwarf comes to an end.

This Week on WETA UK | WETA UK Schedule December 17 – 23

The holiday season is upon us and WETA UK is celebrating with great British Christmas specials. Not only do we have festive shows this week, but we begin new mystery adventures with our favorite detectives like Inspector Morse and the Waking the Dead team. We also begin Masterpiece Classic: Downton Abbey the successful PBS period-drama from the very beginning and continue our favorite British comedies including Coupling and Blackadder II. There are lots of exciting programs on WETA UK, so dive on in to our highlights for the week!

 

Monday at 9:00pm tune in for a new adventure with Foyle’s War: Bleak Midwinter part 1. When Grace Phillips dies in what appears to be an industrial accident, Foyle looks into her death for good measure. Grace had always been such a cheerful girl but recently something had been bothering her. Foyle establishes a link between this death and anothers, the latter who just found out her husband was having an affair. Could Grace have been the mistress? Is the adulterer the murderer? Come back next week for part 2 of this dynamic tale!

Tuesday at 8:00pm begin the story of Downton Abbey from the very beginning. Learn more about this program on the PBS website and tune in every Tuesday at 8:00pm to watch Downton Abbey.

 

Wednesday at 8:00pm join in on another investigation as Inspector Morse takes on Ghost in the Machine part 1! Morse investigates the reported theft of erotic paintings belonging to the now missing Sir Julius Hanbury, a local baronet who is one of those standing for election as the new Master of Courtney College, Oxford. Morse finds Sir Julius's dead body and at first it looks like murder, but police pathologist Dr Grayling Russell believes he killed himself. Return next week for part 2 of Ghost in the Machine.

 

 

Thursday at 9:00pm get mysterious with Waking the Dead: Fugue States part 1. In 1990, two 5-year-old twins, Jason and Cindy, disappeared from their home, and even after a nationwide search was launched, they are still no where to be found. Thirteen years later, Jason is found is in a hospital suffering from car accident related injuries. But where's his sister Cindy? Boyd and the team set out to find her with or without Jason’s help.

 

Friday we’re getting in the Christmas spirit with some of our favorite British holiday specials. At 4:30pm kick off the festivities with My Hero season 2 episode 1 Christmas. George tries to get into the spirit of Christmas by creeping into the houses of Janet's parents on Christmas Eve dressed as Santa to leave them all presents. This doesn't go down as well as he had planned, and Christmas dinner is a bit of a miserable affair until George appears with the real Father Christmas who has a special present for everyone! Repeats Saturday at 7:00am, December 28 at 3:30pm.

Friday continue the laughs and holiday merriment at 5:30pm with Good Neighbors: Christmas Special 1977! When Margo sends back the Leadbetters store bought Christmas gift, they are unable to entertain their high society friends. So as a result the Leadbetters go to share the holiday with their neighbors, the Goods. Who knows what antics this will bring about! Repeats Saturday at 6:00am, December 26 at 9:00am and December 28 at 2:00pm.

Friday at 10:20pm begin watching the hilarious comedy Coupling from the very first episode! When a group of friends begin thinking about love, the results are a wild mix of one-night stands and two-timing and partner-swapping. Often compared to the American television sensation Friends, this British sitcom isn’t one to miss so tune in Friday for season 1 episode 1.

Sunday at 9:00pm Blackadder II begins! A favorite at the Court of Elizabeth I, Edmund Blackadder keeps his head from being chopped off by the capricious Queen with rapier-sharp wit, cunning and bravado. Meanwhile, his rival Lord Melchett loses no opportunity to try to disgrace him. See what classic British actor Rowan Atkinson can do with these characters in the second season beginning Sunday! Monday evening, Last of the Summer Wine season 16 begins!

Monday tune in for drama and mystery with I, Claudius: Fool’s Luck at 8:00pm, then Foyle’s War: A War of Nerves Part 2 at 9:00pm, and the conclusion of Ashes to Ashes season 1 at 10:00pm. Tune in next Monday for the premiere of Ashes to Ashes season 2!  

 

Tuesday catch the first episode of Are You Being Served? season 7 at 11:30am! No need to watch from season 1, jump right into this hilarious British comedy today! 

 

Tuesday continue the period drama Call the Midwife with season 1 episode 2 beginning at 8:00pm. There’s a new arrival at Nonnatus House named Chummy (Miranda Hart). As Chummy sets about showing her worth, her helping hands are appreciated, but being a people pleaser and not knowing how to ride a bike make gaining the respect of Sister Evangelina difficult. Meanwhile, Jenny has a chance encounter with a pregnant young runaway. 

Wednesday at 8:00pm Inspector Morse continues solving the mystery Dead on Time and Prime Suspect continues with part two of The Last Witness. 

Thursday at 7:30pm watch Keeping Up Appearances season 4 episode 1. Never seen this hilarious show? Here’s everything you need to know: Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced ‘bouquet’) has a pompous, self-serving attitude which makes life miserable for all around her. In marked contrast to Hyacinth’s meticulously ordered life, the rest of her family is as common as muck and can always be guaranteed to show her up. Thursday join us for the premiere of Rosemary & Thyme at 8:00pm! Friday at 9:00pm begin a new season of As Time Goes By starring Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer. This witty comedy stars long-lost sweethearts Jean and Lionel, who lost touch after a whirlwind romance in the early 1950s and meet up again 38 years later. Season 4 finds Lionel surrounded by females and grumpier than ever. With a day-to-day whirlwind of excitement, he wants a quiet wedding, of course, but Jean has very different ideas. Saturday get ready for the WETA UK Event: The Complete Sherlock beginning at 8:00pm. Start watching this fast-paced and unique series Masterpiece Mystery! Sherlock (BBC Sherlock) from the very first episode this week and continue with back-to-back episodes every Saturday through season 2. 

 

This week, watch season 1, A Study in Pink at 8:00pm and The Blink Banker at 9:30pm. In A Study in Pink, meet the characters that make up this newest rendition of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes. A modern-day Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) teams up with former Army doctor John Watson (Martin Freeman) to solve a case of serial suicides. Using his deductive skill, Sherlock corners a killer who has mysterious powers over his victims. Stay tuned after episode 1 for episode 2, The Blink Banker. Pursuing the case of a banker and a journalist shot dead by a ghostly assailant, Sherlock and Watson uncover an antiquities-smuggling empire.

Saturday after The WETA UK Event: The Complete Sherlock lighten up with the WETA UK premiere of William and Mary season 1. A romantic, comedy, drama starring Martin Clunes and Julie Graham as lonely hearts looking for love. Undertaker William Shawcross joins a dating agency in the hope of finding his ideal match and is instantly attracted to put-upon midwife Mary Gilcrest: but she's less than keen to go on a date as she has her hands full. After a lackluster first meeting, Mary agrees to see William again and a spark ignites between the fledgling couple, only for tragedy to strike revealing William’s unappealing occupation in the process. Will their love blossom amidst tragedy?
