This Week on WETA UK: October 6-12

Monday at 10:30pm tune in for special episode Born to Royalty! This documentary profiles Prince George, the son of Prince William of England and Kate Middleton, and explores what the royal child's life might be like.

Tuesday at 10:30pm Vicious makes its WETA UK premiere! This British sitcom features a graying gay couple (Ian McKellen, Derek Jacobi) with a witty and sharp relationship. The series opens with the pair hosting a wake for a dear friend.

Wednesday at 8pm Inspector Morse begins from season 1 with “The Dead of Jericho”. Morse has hopes of a blossoming romance with piano teacher Anne but his hopes are shattered when she is found murdered.

Thursday at 7:30pm My Family begins season 4! Ben Harper is a moderately successful family man and dentist. He's undergoing a mid-life crisis and trying to cope with the bizarre reality of raising teenage children. Along with his wife Susan and their three children Nick, Janey, and Michael, the Harper family makes for a hilarious British comedy.

Friday at 8pm Rosemary and Thyme begins from season 1! In the episode "And No Birds Sing"
Rosemary Boxer and Laura Thyme discover they share more than a love of gardening when a suspicious fatal car accident brings them together at the house of wealthy businessman Daniel Kellaway.

Saturday at 3:26pm Midsomer Murders starts with season 8 “Things That Go Bump in the Night”. Fletcher's Cross undertaker Patrick Pennyman is found dead in his own chapel of rest with a shocked look on his face. Barnaby and Scott try to uncover the mysteries of the church as well as trying to unmask the brutal killer.

Sunday at 11pm watch Doctor Who “Love and Monsters”. An ordinary man called Elton becomes obsessed with the Doctor and Rose and their mysterious blue box. But when Elton’s investigations bring him to the attention of the enigmatic, cold, and powerful Victor Kennedy, his harmless hobby suddenly plunges him into a living nightmare.

After recovering from a heart attack, Alan is let out of hospital and moves into Celia's grandmother's flat. They want to plan a secret wedding as soon as possible but how will their daughters react to this major life decision?

 

 

Masterpiece Mystery! Endeavour – Season 2 – Premieres Sunday June 29 at 9pm
In this premiere episode “Trove”, Morse returns to duty after an involuntary, four-month leave and is again paired with DI Thursday. Their first case unites an unidentifiable corpse, an enigmatic note, and the theft of medieval artifacts. Morse ties together these seemingly unrelated cases.

 

 

Vicious – Series Premiere – Sunday June 29 at 10:30pm
This is a brand-new British sitcom about a graying gay couple Freddie and Stuart (Ian McKellen, Derek Jacobi).  They’ve lived together in a small London flat for 50 years and while their criticizing remarks make their relationship seem vicious, they truly have a deep love for one another.

This Week on WETA UK: June 23-29

Monday at 9pm catch two back-to-back, 90 minute episodes of Midsomer Murders! The 9pm episode is “Written in Blood”. Gerald Hadleigh, a secretary of the writers circle, was never in favor of inviting best-selling novelist Max Jennings to attend one of their meetings. When Hadleigh is found brutally battered to death, the other members of the circle wish they had heeded his reluctance. Barnaby and Troy discover that Hadleigh was a man of mystery, with no National Insurance number, no relatives and no marriage certificate to match the wedding photo on display in his house. When another body is found, they have a double murder on their hands. The 10:30pm episode is “Death of a Hollow Man”. In the village of Ferne Basset, an elderly resident is found drowned after a violent attack. Meanwhile, at the Corn Exchange in Causton, a local amateur dramatic production of Amadeus reveals a backstage world of intrigue, passion and gossip — and a whole new meaning to the term "corpsing" when there is a second murder.

Tuesday at 8pm Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries continues with the case of “Murder in Montparnasse”. The widow of a famous artist who Phryne once posed for years before arrives in Melbourne requesting the return of her late husband's paintings. Don’t forget that Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries also airs on WETA TV26 & HD Mondays at 9pm and 10pm!

Wednesday at 10pm season 2 of Death in Paradise begins! In this first episode, DI Poole is learning to cope with the tropical climate and laid-back atmosphere of Saint Marie, but everyday still presents a challenge for the traditional detective. When the owner of a former sugar plantation, Roger Seymour, is discovered with a machete in his back, Poole and his team have a seemingly impossible case to solve.

Thursday at 7pm begin watching the British comedy Chef! from the very first episode! In this episode titled, “Personnel”, Gareth Blackstock is the executive chef at Le Château Anglais, and he is infuriated when management cuts his budget. He is one up on the budget when Everton shows up and volunteers his service as sous chef for no compensation in order that he can train in the most famous kitchen in England.

Friday at 12pm experience the classic comedy Last of the Summer Wine. Britain’s longest-running sitcom, Last of the Summer Wine clocked up over 30 series. An affectionate comedy about people in the autumn of their years, the series is set in glorious countryside and packed with slapstick humor. It follows the hilarious misadventures of a trio of older men as they explore the world around them, experiencing a second childhood with no wives, jobs or responsibilities.

Saturday at 10:30pm Masterpiece Mystery! Case Histories continues with episode 2. The second "Case Histories" finds Jackson the lone witness to a possible drowning in the Firth of Forth, but has little to go on beyond the victim's earrings. In other events, a crime novelist (Adam Godley) intervenes in a case of road rage; a comatose crook's wife and dominatrix unexpectedly bond; and Jackson isn't sure he'll sign the necessary papers so that his daughter can move to New Zealand with her mother. Adapted from Kate Atkinson's "One Good Turn."

Sunday at 10pm Life on Mars season 2 begins! In season 2 episode 1, despite eerie visions of 2006, DCI Sam Tyler remains in the 70s – where he encounters the young incarnation of a nasty villain Sam put away in 2006. He sees the chance every policeman dreams about: stopping the killer before he kills.

This Week on WETA UK: June 16-22

Monday at 2pm New Tricks begins season 8 with the episode “Old Fossils”. In this episode, Dr. Bernard Fletcher, a senior paleontologist specializing in fossil birds at the Natural History Museum was found dead following a corporate event in the Central Hall. The original autopsy stated his death was the result of a fall, but a new examination of the post mortem suggests he sustained a single blow to the head. The investigation takes an unexpected turn when the team discover Fletcher was embroiled in an affair with a colleague and that he was also gathering damning evidence against Mondial Fuel.

Tuesday at 9pm catch two back-to-back episodes of Doc Martin! This week, start season 2 with “Old Dogs” and “New Tricks”.  Just when things are beginning to look rosily romantic between Dr. Ellingham and pretty school teacher Louisa Glasson, he makes a terrible faux pas. Meanwhile, Muriel's condition deteriorates in the home. Louisa is nervously awaiting an interview for promotion to head teacher of Portwenn Primary School, and she's anxious to make a good impression but the odds seem to be stacked against her. Dr. Ellingham is on the board of governors, and she's not sure she can count on his vote. Meanwhile, Bert Large is testing out his culinary skills on the villagers.

Wednesday at 7:30pm season 8 of My Family begins. In this first episode titled “The Parent Trap”, Ben signs for the delivery of a neighbor’s large, plasma-screen television and falls in love with it.  Meanwhile, Michael's current love interest may be expecting a delivery too.

Thursday at 8pm continue laughing with Outnumbered as season 4 begins. The Brockman Family has tough decisions to make about work, video games, and who to take to a family funeral.  The vicar probably wishes none of them had ever come.

Friday at 9pm tune in for the start of Inspector George Gently. Chief Inspector George Gently takes on one last case before retiring, following the murder of his wife. The case involves the death of a young biker in the North East of England, and interests Gently as it has attracted the attention of Joe Webster — his nemesis and the man responsible for the death of his wife. Gently enlists the aid of ambitious policeman, John Bacchus, to solve the case, but both find themselves up against enemies both within and outside the police force itself.

Saturday at 6pm watch the first mystery in the Midsomer Murders series, “The Killings at Badger’s Drift”. The peace of the seemingly idyllic village of Badger's Drift is shattered by the inexplicable murder of an old lady, Emily Simpson, found dead in her cottage after witnessing something unsettling in the woods. Her old friend, Lucy Bellringer, is convinced that Emily's death was not from natural causes. The investigation of DCI Barnaby and Detective Sergeant Troy of Causton CID uncovers a web of sinister events, some long buried in the past.

Sunday at 4pm watch the Foyle’s War episode “Eagle Day”. Detective Chief Superintendent Foyle and Detective Sergeant Milner are called to investigate the discovery of a stabbed body found in the aftermath of a bombing raid. The dead man is identified as Graham Davies and the one lead is a gold locket he was clutching in his hand.

This Week on WETA UK: April 21-27

Monday at 9pm tune in for the last two mysteries of Midsomer Murders season 7! From 9-10:30pm watch “The Straw Woman”, a traditional festival at Midsomer Parva ends in tragedy when the curate is burned alive inside a straw effigy of a woman then his lover dies. Amid rumors of witchcraft, some villagers blame a particular man but only DCI Barnaby and Sergeant Scott will find out the truth. From 10:30-midnight watch “Ghosts of Christmas Past”, dark secrets and delving into the past to resolve the present are just some of the exciting themes in this festive episode.

Tuesday at 11pm Rumpole of the Bailey begins season 4 with “Rumple and the Old, Old, Story” where Rumpole defends a business man who is accused of trying to murder his partner. Rumpole and Hilda part ways without much regret.

Wednesday at 8pm Inspector Morse takes on “The Sins of the Fathers” by investigating Trevor Radford’s murder. The managing director of the family-owned Radford's Brewery was attacked and killed after hours and Morse becomes immersed in the implications of a hostile take-over bid by another company. Trevor's widow Helen finds her brother-in-law Stephen murdered but she’s particularly upset since she was having an affair with him.

Thursday at 8pm Spy goes undercover with “Codename: Citizen Lame”. Review time in the office approaches and when one employee is dismissed, the team is distraught. Tim changes Marcus' work assignment from ‘Accounting’ to ‘Retail’ forcing him to learn about the sale of merchandise and dreams. Don’t forget British comedies Twenty Twelve, Lead Balloon, and Outnumbered follow Spy.

Friday at 11am Ballykissangel begins season 6 with “God.com”. Vincent Sheahan, the new Australian priest, arrives in Ballykissangel. One of his first tasks is to answer questions from a journalist about a Ballykissangel online confessional. All Vincent can say is that he knows nothing about it. When he finds the website, he realizes that people are paying to have their sins forgiven and decides to investigate.

Saturday at 8pm new documentary series Billy Connolly’s Route 66 premieres on WETA UK! Scottish comedian/actor Billy Connolly takes the ultimate road trip as he travels the world's most famous highway, Route 66. With his unrivaled ability to tell a great story, he brings to life both the big and small moments of American history — the world changing events and the comic asides.  In episode one (of four), Billy travels from Chicago, IL to St. Louis, MO visiting attractions along the way including: the Chicago Tribune Building, the Route 66 "Pie Man," Abraham Lincoln's home, an Amish community and the Chain of Rocks bridge.

Sunday at 11pm begin the famous Doctor Who series from the very first episode “Rose”. Rose Tyler meets a mysterious stranger called the Doctor, and her life will never be the same again.
