Because I know what everyone probably really wants: report and pictures from the New York Sherlock Series 2 event should be coming tomorrow! But as this post is also relevant info for the weekend, wanted to make sure and share before it got outdated.

Sky1’s recent television adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic Treasure Island is coming to America this weekend. Per the official press release, in a special, one night only movie event, Syfy will present a fresh, new spin on the classic tale, Treasure Island. Stevenson’s swashbuckling adventure story about fantastical treasure, youthful courage and murderous greed will premiere this Saturday, May 5, from 7-11pm.

The cast in this production is particularly top-notch – comedian Eddie Izzard (The Riches, Ocean’s 12) stars as Long John Silver, and is joined by Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit), Donald Sutherland (Ordinary People, Pride and Prejudice), Rupert Penry-Jones (Whitechapel), Daniel Mays (Outcasts), Philip Glenister (Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes) and more.

Is anyone else getting a bit of a Pirates of the Caribbean vibe from this? It looks very similar visually, at least.

Lacy's love of British TV is embarrassingly extensive, but primarily centers around evangelizing all things Doctor Who, and watching as many period dramas as possible.

Digital media type by day, she also has a fairly useless degree in British medieval literature, and dearly loves to talk about dream poetry, liminality, and the medieval religious vision. (Sadly, that opportunity presents itself very infrequently.) York apologist, Ninth Doctor enthusiast, and unabashed Ravenclaw. Say hi on Threads or Blue Sky at @LacyMB.
