Celebrate the Premiere of 'The Hollow Crown': Take Our Quiz Inspired by Shakespeare’s Henriad!

Highly anticipated Shakespeare mini-series The Hollow Crown premieres September 20 on Great Performances and – to the surprise of no one, mostly likely – we’ve got  more than a few fans of this production (and the Bard, generally) around the office here. The series assembles four of Shakespeare’s most famous history plays  - Richard II; Henry IV, Part I; Henry IV, Part Two; and Henry V – into a single chronological narrative, and stars such notable British thespians as Ben Whishaw, Jeremy Irons, Tom Hiddleston, Rory Kinnear, Michelle Dockery, Patrick Stewart, David Suchet and (a lot) more.

(If, for some reason, you’ve not heard of this production before, take a second to watch the UK and US trailers – and then cancel whatever plans you had for the weekend.)

To celebrate the launch of this highly anticipated drama, we put together a little character quiz based on some of the main figures featured in Shakespeare’s Henriad (that’s the fancy name for this particular quartet of plays). So if you’ve ever wondered whether you’re more a Richard II or a Hotspur, well, now’s your chance to find out.

Click here to take the quiz for yourself – and let us know which character you got in the comments!

Lacy's love of British TV is embarrassingly extensive, but primarily centers around evangelizing all things Doctor Who, and watching as many period dramas as possible.

Digital media type by day, she also has a fairly useless degree in British medieval literature, and dearly loves to talk about dream poetry, liminality, and the medieval religious vision. (Sadly, that opportunity presents itself very infrequently.) York apologist, Ninth Doctor enthusiast, and unabashed Ravenclaw. Say hi on Threads or Blue Sky at @LacyMB.
