Doctor Who fans have become famous over the last half century for their dedication to the show, their enthusiasm for all its actors that lasts well past their respective tenures in the TARDIS, and their exceptional creativity. Whovian talents extend to many arenas, including show-based costumes, fan videos, crafts, home décor, wall art, clothing items and more. Basically, if you can dream it, odds are that there’s a Doctor Who fan out there that’s made it. (Or could be convinced to make it if it doesn’t exist yet.)

With such an embarrassment of riches to choose from, whoever, finding the truly unique in the online world of Whovian fun and fandom can be challenging. (Or scary, if you choose unwisely as you go down the rabbit hole of the internet.) Which, makes it all the more outstanding when you do find the awesome bits –of which, fair warning there are kind of a lot. This is one of those awesome bits.

Brooklyn-based fan and animator Alisa Stern has created this amazing thing called the Doctor Puppet. Which is, as you might have guessed from the name, a video series about a puppet version of the Doctor. Well, several puppet versions of the Doctor, to be a bit more accurate. (And, really, the Nine one is SO ADORABLE. Y’all know Nine is my Doctor, so I am notoriously hard to please on that subject, but seriously. So cute.)

The Doctor Puppet web series chronicles the adventures of our puppet friend(s) through space and time, all rendered in painstakingly amazing stop motion animation.

Currently there are four episodes of the Doctor Puppet available (plus a Christmas special) with more reported to be on the way.  You can watch them all (and you should, it’s really quite amazing) on Alisa’s YouTube Channel.  And if you want to learn more about how she created the series, well, there’s a playlist for that too. The process is really quite interesting.

There are also loads of photos of the Doctor Puppet visiting awesome and interesting places on their Tumblr, just in case you get bored one afternoon and want to start digging through the archives.

How cool is this though? What other fun Whovian online creations would you consider a must-watch for fans?

Lacy's love of British TV is embarrassingly extensive, but primarily centers around evangelizing all things Doctor Who, and watching as many period dramas as possible.

Digital media type by day, she also has a fairly useless degree in British medieval literature, and dearly loves to talk about dream poetry, liminality, and the medieval religious vision. (Sadly, that opportunity presents itself very infrequently.) York apologist, Ninth Doctor enthusiast, and unabashed Ravenclaw. Say hi on Threads or Blue Sky at @LacyMB.
