Sherlock Ruins All Your Favorite TV Shows in This Awesome Animated Clip

Many US Sherlock fans have had to engage in some serious online acrobatics to avoid finding out anything about the mystery series’ highly anticipated third season in the three-week interim between its UK and US broadcasts.

Avoiding spoilers can sometimes come down to luck, the right choice in friends, and an appropriate amount of material stock piled with which to distract yourself, so you don’t go looking. Consider this some fodder for that last bit. We’ve still got two weeks in Series 3 to go!

This extremely fan clip poses the valuable question - what if the great detective himself attempted to watch TV? YouTube artist Only Leigh (who is also behind the hilarious “Fangirl” videos  that will ring true for anyone who spends any time at all online) has created a hilarious animated short that imagines what it must be like to watch TV with Sherlock. And his many deductions.

Don’t worry – there aren’t any spoilers for Sherlock Series 3 in this clip. Though there are a bunch for several other shows.

(Most notably Breaking Bad, Gossip Girl, Dexter and Mad Men. So proceed with caution.)

Watch Sherlock Spoils Everything (though honestly shouldn’t it be A Study in Spoilers??) below. It’s totally worth it.

I wish I’d had a Sherlock to tell me how terrible the Dexter finale was going to be. Just saying.

The real Sherlock continues on Masterpiece through February 2. Choose your viewing companions wisely.

Lacy's love of British TV is embarrassingly extensive, but primarily centers around evangelizing all things Doctor Who, and watching as many period dramas as possible.

Digital media type by day, she also has a fairly useless degree in British medieval literature, and dearly loves to talk about dream poetry, liminality, and the medieval religious vision. (Sadly, that opportunity presents itself very infrequently.) York apologist, Ninth Doctor enthusiast, and unabashed Ravenclaw. Say hi on Threads or Blue Sky at @LacyMB.
