Filming Wraps on Upcoming Period Drama ‘Victoria’

Filming has officially concluded on lavish upcoming period drama Victoria.

The eight-part drama stars Doctor Who alum Jenna Coleman as the titular monarch, who ruled England for 63 years. This series aims to tell the story of her ascension to the throne at the age of 18, through her courtship and marriage to Prince Albert.

Victoria was the longest-serving British monarch in history, or at least, she was until her record was broken by Queen Elizabeth II in 2015. Ostensibly, this means that if the show does well and there’s interest in its continuation, there is certainly plenty of material to be used for subsequent seasons. Fingers crossed!

In honor of this momentous occasion the official Twitter account for Victoria shared a shot of Coleman alongside co-star Tom Hughes, who plays Victoria’s husband Prince Albert.

Coleman and Hughes are joined by several other familiar faces in the series’ cast, including Rufus Sewell as Lord Melbourne, Victoria’s first prime minister, Peter Firth as the Duke of Cumberland, Eve Myles as Victoria’s senior dresser, Alex Jennings as King of Belgium, Leopold I and more.

The official Twitter account also shared a few behind-the-scenes snaps in the days following the conclusion of production:

This one is probably the cutest, though:

There’s been no official trailer or anything released as yet, but you can get a super quick look at some (very posh-looking) promo footage that was shown earlier this year.

Victoria doesn’t have an official UK broadcast date yet, but it’s currently slated to air in American in January 2017, in the venerable timeslot once held by Downton Abbey.

Are you looking forward to Victoria
