The third and final season of Broadchurch, ITV’s buzzy detective drama that’s seen rather exceptional highs and depressing lows during its brief run, will finally make its way to the US this Spring. BBC America will premiere Season 3 starting on Wednesday, June 28. So mark your calendars appropriately.

Broadchurch stars Doctor Who’s David Tennant and The Night Manager’s Olivia Colman as Detective Inspector Alec Hardy and Detective Sargeant Ellie Miller. The two partners were brought together after the murder of a young boy rocked a seaside village community. (A lot of other things happened, but if you haven’t seen the show before, it’s best to go in not knowing much.)

Good news: The countdown to a new season of Poldark is officially on!

Bad news: We’re not going to see it until October here. Which, we’re Americans who love British TV, we’re pretty used to waiting. Heck, we’re pretty good at it, at this point. (We’ve even got a long list of things you can watch in the meantime while you’re waiting for more Poldark, should you need suggestions.) But doesn’t mean it’s not rough. The only real bright side is that at least we will probably get double the amount of promotional material to look at while we wait. Like this new trailer for Season 3.

The prequel to beloved crime drama Prime Suspect is coming to America this June, and Masterpiece has released a trailer for the highly anticipated series!

Titled Prime Suspect: Tennison, the series takes place in 1973, eighteen years prior to the events of the original Prime Suspect. That series starred Dame Helen Mirren in the lead role, who won all kinds of awards for her performance, including several Emmys and BAFTAs, as well as a prestigious Peabody Award. (So, no pressure, y’all).

British Films for Summer 2017 Take Audiences Back in Time

Summer is prime movie season in part due to the lovely air-conditioned darkness that can transport you to different places and eras.

And it would appear that this summer, British films will be doing just that. The offerings range from the Victorian era to the Cold War and beyond. With an impressive list of actors paired with the many compelling, and often true, stories on offer, I predict you’ll want to make a point to see at least a few of these films.

Based on the “Grantchester Mysteries” books by author James Runcie, the series stars James Norton and Robson Green as the unlikely crime solving duo of vicar Sidney Chambers and overworked police inspector Geordie Keating.

‘Victorian Slum House’: Reality Programming Without the Guilt

Housed in a historically recreated East London tenement, modern day Brits attempt to survive the harsh living and working conditions of the Victorian Slum House without a safety net.

Why would they volunteer for such an undertaking? To experience the challenges their ancestors endured during the Victorian period. Each episode highlights the social issues and harsh economic realities of a distinct decade beginning in 1860 and ending with 1900.

PBS and the BBC released a first look promotional image for Season 3 of the popular period drama Poldark.

It features stars Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson as Ross and Demelza Poldark. And the two are locked in an embrace on a Cliffside, with dramatic skies in the background.  It’s actually quite a gorgeous shot, and certainly looks suitably dramatic.

In honor of Victoria Day, ITV and Masterpiece released a first look clip at the highly anticipated second season of the period drama that bears the queen’s name, Victoria. Still celebrated in various places around the world – it’s an actual federal holiday in Canada – Victoria Day marks the anniversary of the British monarch’s birth.

The footage, featuring stars Jenna Coleman and Tom Hughes in their roles as Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, is the first we’ve seen to date from Victoria Season 2.
