Watch the First Masterpiece Preview for Great Expectations!

The great author Charles Dickens turned 200 yesterday, and to celebrate this momentous anniversary Masterpiece Classic released the first American promotional trailer for the upcoming Great Expectations adaptation, featuring former The X-Files star Gillian Anderson.

This trailer is really great – fantastically atmospheric and creepy. Plus the song that’s used in it is awesome. (It’s called “Desire” and it’s by an aritst named Anna Calvi. I looked it up.) I quite like this preview far more than the one the BBC released last Fall.

Anderson stars as the iconic Miss Havisham, and is joined by Ray Winstone (Magwitch), David Suchet (Javers), Vanessa Kirby (Estella) and Douglas Booth (Pip). 

Great Expectations will debut on Masterpiece this Spring.
