Sherlock Series 3 Starts Filming Today: Take a Tour of 221b Baker Street

Fans have been waiting for this day for so long, it probably ought to be some sort of official international holiday, but at last, it is finally here - filming on the highly anticipated third series of Sherlock begins today.

Set designer Arwel Wyn Jones has been tweeting up a storm during the past few weeks of pre-production and has recently shared what is possibly his best behind-the-scenes photo yet. With filming imminent, Wyn Jones has tweeted a pretty fantastic complete panoramic view of the full set for the 221b Baker Street flat, all dressed and fancy and up close and personal.

If you click on the image below you can move your cursor right or left to take a tour of the entire room. (It's so pretty!!) You can also zoom in quite close to really take in all the little blink-and-you'll-miss-them details that the set is stuffed with as well, though it's easier to see everything if you make the image fullscreen, just FYI.

My favorite random set detail is still the bison skull wearing headphones that hangs above Sherlock’s desk, but there are lots of wonderful small touches all over that really make the set feel like an actual home.

More on what we know so far about Sherlock’s third season can be found this way. There’s still no word about when the new series will air – on either side of the pond – though star Benedict Cumberbatch has speculated that it could transmit in the UK around Christmas.

Lacy's love of British TV is embarrassingly extensive, but primarily centers around evangelizing all things Doctor Who, and watching as many period dramas as possible.

Digital media type by day, she also has a fairly useless degree in British medieval literature, and dearly loves to talk about dream poetry, liminality, and the medieval religious vision. (Sadly, that opportunity presents itself very infrequently.) York apologist, Ninth Doctor enthusiast, and unabashed Ravenclaw. Say hi on Threads or Blue Sky at @LacyMB.
