The Tenth Doctor and Rose are coming back to the world of Doctor Who! Well, sort of.

David Tennant and Billie Piper are reprising their roles as the Tenth Doctor and his first companion. They’re just not doing it on TV. The two are reuniting to star in a new series of audio plays from Big Finish

This production company is already responsible for creating a great many supplementary audio stories in the Doctor Who universe, including audio adventures featuring the classic Fifth, Six and Seventh Doctors. (FYI, they also pretty much created all of the canon surrounding the Eighth Doctor, since Paul McGann didn’t exactly get a lot of time onscreen.)

The company produced its first modern Doctor Who story in 2016, starring Tennant. The first season of The Tenth Doctor Adventures also featured former companion Catherine Tate, and told several new additional Ten and Donna stories from Season 4. Piper is coming aboard for the audio series’ second season, which will feature three full Ten and Rose adventures set in Season 2 of the television show. This, of course, means that all events will take place before Rose gets sucked off to an alternate universe, or acquires her own meta-crisis version of the Tenth Doctor to live happily ever after with.

"Getting David and Billie back together was definitely on my bucket list,” said executive producer Jason Haigh-Ellery. “Two wonderful actors who created an era of Doctor Who which is so fondly remembered and brought a different aspect of the relationship between the Doctor and his companion to the fore – love, both platonic and unrequited. It’s great to have the Tenth Doctor and Rose back again!"

The duo will also be joined by fellow Who alum Camille Codri, who plays Rose’s mother Jackie.

Volume 2 will be comprised of three full-length stories. “Infamy of the Zaross” by John Dorney will tell the story of an alien invasion of Earth that isn’t everything it appears to be. “Sword of the Chevalier” by Guy Adams will see Rose and Ten discover alien slavers attempting to kidnap humans in 1791 England. And “Cold Vengeance” by Matt Fitton will feature the return of classic Doctor Who villains, the Ice Warriors (voiced by Nicholas Briggs, the guy who’s famous for voicing the Daleks).

Do you listen to any of the Big Finish audio stories? If so, what do you think?
