Otherwise known as "that show that has pretty much the most perfect lead casting for a TV series ever".
The six-part series, based on the popular novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, follows the story of a fussy angel (Aziraphale) and a hard-living demon (Crowley) who must join forces in order to prevent a possible apocalypse. (This is maybe the most basic description of this plot, but it’ll actually be more fun the less you know going in. Honest.)
Tennant will play the demon to Sheen’s angel, alongside an all-star cast that includes Miranda Richardson, Jack Whitehall, Michael McKean, Adria Arjona, and more.
Gaiman –who is also serving as the series’ showrunner – tweeted a photo of his two stars dressed to the nines in their Aziraphale and Crowley best to commemorate the launch of filming. And, let’s be real, they look amazing.
I have to be honest: My inner Doctor Who fangirl is positively screaming with glee that Tennant went full ginger for this role. (I don’t even care if it’s a wig, or a weave, or a really cheap bottle of Manic Panic, before anyone says anything. Just let me have this.)
Shooting on the series will run for around six months, and Good Omens is set to premiere at some point in 2018. It will stream via Amazon Prime here in the US and air on BBC Two in the UK.
Are you looking forward to seeing more of Gaiman's works come to life on your TV (we've already got Lucifer and American Gods, after all)? And who else is dying over Tennant with red hair? Let's discuss in the comments.
