The full trailer for The Crown Season 3 is finally here, and it promises a season that doesn’t just feature a bevy of glittering new actors in the key roles of the royals, but one that appears to subtly reframe the focus of the series.

In theory, The Crown is meant to follow the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, with each season representing roughly a decade of her rule. For its third outing, the Netflix drama will swap out its entire cast, aging up everyone as the series enters the 1970s and 80s.

Best Actress winner Olivia Colman will replace outgoing queen Claire Foy, while Tobias Menzies will take over as Prince Philip, Helena Bonham-Carter will play Princess Margaret and Ben Daniels will step in as her husband. But perhaps more importantly, Season 3 will introduce the next generation of royals as characters in their own rights, with stories of their own.

Josh O’Connor joins the cast as Prince Charles, alongside Erin Doherty as Princess Anne and Emerald Fennell as Charles’ first love, Camilla Shand.

Despite the fact that this is technically supposed to be Elizabeth’s story, there’s no denying that the young Princes of Wales takes center stage in this new trailer, which features both his investiture and his growing attraction to Camilla, an attachment that could ruin his life.

“Watch out for your family,” an unidentified woman tells him. “They mean well,“ he says. “No, they don’t,” she responds.

The trailer certainly hints that there are cracks in the monarchy in the face of a changing society and tumultuous personal relationships, as Elizabeth frets about her legacy, Margaret suffers physical abuse and both women tell themselves there are no choices to be made, only duty to be followed.

“You cannot flinch,” Margaret tells her sister. “It’s only fallen apart if we say it has. That’s the thing about the monarchy—we paper over the cracks.”

The Crown Season 3 hits Netflix on November 17. Will you be watching?
