Colin Morgan to Star in BBC Drama ‘The Living and the Dead’

Merlin’s Colin Morgan and Line of Duty’s Charlotte Spencer have been cast as the leads in upcoming BBC supernatural thriller The Living and the Dead.

The six-part drama will take place in Somerset in 1894 and follow the story of a brilliant young couple who inherit a farm that’s almost as old as the countryside itself. The two move in, determined to start a new life together. But their presence in this isolated corner of England starts to unleash strange, settling and dangerous supernatural phenomenon that will start to threaten their marriage.

Woooo, ghosts, right? (It’s gotta be ghosts, yeah?)

Listen: BBC Radio 4’s Production of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s ‘Good Omens’ is Online

In case your holidays were a bit too hectic to fully appreciate the fabulousness that was BBC Radio 4’s recent dramatization of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s cult classic novel Good Omens, well you’re in luck. While the radio drama has finished its on-air run, the entire series is available to stream for free – regardless of where you live! – on the BBC iPlayer website.

First published in 1990, Good Omens subtitled The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, tells the story of the End Times. Sort of. It involves an angel (Aziraphale) and a demon (Crowley) who quite like living on Earth, actually, and take it upon themselves to thwart the plans of the Antichrist, whose name is Adam. It’s kind of complicated. (But it’s awesome.)

‘Merlin’s’ Colin Morgan, ‘Doc Martin’s’ Katherine Parkinson to Star in New AMC Series ‘Humans’

Well, this is certainly interesting. AMC – the US cable network home to critical darlings like Mad Men and Breaking Bad, as well as smash hit zombie drama The Walking Dead – is joining forces with England’s Channel 4 to create a remake of Swedish sci-fi series Real Humans, starring quite a few notable British actors.

Merlin star Colin Morgan is set to star, alongside Doc Martin’s Katherine Parkinson, Mr. Selfridge’s Tom Goodman-Hill, Damages William Hurt, The Thick of It’s Rebecca Front, Game of Thrones Will Tudor, Bedlam’s Gemma Chan and more.

The drama is set in a near-future world in which robots – called “Synths” – that are made to look like real people are commonly used as domestic workers and personal servants. In a twist that will surprise no one that’s watched any sort of science-fiction ever, some of the synths seem to develop some form of consciousness and start engaging in various sorts of more “human” behaviors.

‘Merlin’s’ Colin Morgan Joins Series 2 of ‘The Fall’

Colin Morgan, star of popular BBC fantasy-adventure series Merlin, is finally heading back to our televisions. Morgan has been tapped for a lead role in the second season of dark and gritty serial killer drama The Fall, opposite Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan.

The Fall stars Anderson as DSI Stella Gibson, a hard, but talented detective who is on the trail of a serial murderer who’s been targeting young professional women. However, thanks to the twist that makes this show interesting, we already know that the killer is Paul Spector (Dornan), an unassuming everyman with a charming wife and family at home. Dornan received a BAFTA nomination for his work in The Fall, largely because of his uncanny ability to make such a disturbing and unlikeable figure strangely sympathetic at times.

Morgan will be featured the final three episodes of The Fall’s six-episode Season 2, and will play DS Tom Anderson, an officer who will work closely with DSI Gibson on the hunt for Spector, who ended last season fleeing with his damaged family as clues surrounding his crimes began to emerge.
