Comic Con

Telly Visions at San Diego Comic Con 2014

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Yes, the dog days of July are upon us, when entertainment enthusiasts everywhere gather in Southern California for the best weekend of the year, when we all put on costumes and revel in whatever various forms of geekery we most enjoy. Yes, I’m headed back to San Diego Comic Con International this weekend, so bear with us if the blog is a bit quiet this weekend.

While I’m technically going for fun once again this year (and with the hopes that it’ll take my mind off things to be quite honest), there’s no reason that I still can’t report back to everyone about all the relevant and exciting Brit-related news from this year’s convention.

Sadly, there are no Doctor Who or Sherlock panels to be had this year, but rumor has it a host of British celebs will be in San Diego promoting their latest projects, which will include appearances by such famous faces as Colin Firth, Daniel Radcliffe and more – including, yes, even Benedict Cumberbatch.

Expect a full report next week, but in the meantime make sure you're following the blog on Twitter, because if I manage to see or do anything exceptionally awesome, that's likely where you'll see it first. (If you just want to see photos of my TARDIS dress and me sitting in various massive lines for things, you can find my personal account here.)

Telly Visions is Heading to Comic Con 2013!

Bear with us if things are a bit quiet around the blog this week – we’ll be back up and running at full strength next week.

Besides an unexpected personal issue that’s kept me off the internet for the past few days (I lost a beloved pet), I’m off to San Diego Comic Con International for the weekend, land of costumes, geeks and general merriment.

While I’m technically going for fun once again this year (and with the hopes that it’ll take my mind off things to be quite honest), there’s no reason that I still can’t report back to everyone about all the relevant and exciting Brit-related news from this year’s convention. Sherlock is slated to make its first ever Comic Con appearance, Doctor Who will be having a celebratory 50th anniversary panel, and there are multiple other panels featuring a variety of British talent. (I may also be supposed to dress up like a TARDIS. There will probably be pictures.)

Expect a full report next week, but in the meantime make sure you're following the blog on Twitter, because if I manage to see or do anything exceptionally aweseome, that's likely where you'll see it first.

Sherlock is Going to Comic-Con; US Premiere of Series 3 Set for 2014

It’s official – PBS will take its first ever trip to San Diego Comic-Con International in a couple of weeks. Popular series Sherlock will host its first panel at the gigantic fan convention, and fans everywhere are already hoping that we’ll finally get some real information about the its highly anticipated third season.

The panel will include co-creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, along with producer Sue Vertue, and will be hosted by Entertainment Weekly writer James Hibberd. Sadly, neither Benedict Cumberbatch nor Martin Freeman will be in attendance, what with both of them working on other projects during the ten week break from filming on Sherlock Series 3.

While we’ll all obviously miss seeing Cumberbatch and Freeman (you can already hear the fangirl wails from San Diego), it should be still be very exciting to (finally) hear a bit about Series 3 straight from the proverbial horses’ mouths. And, if we’re very lucky, maybe we’ll get a peek at some new footage? Two of the three new episodes are finished filming after all.

Telly Visions Goes to Comic Con!

If it looks a little sparse around this blog for the next few days – please bear with me, I promise we’ll be back and up and running at full strength next week.

Why so quiet, you may ask? Well, I’m off to the infamous San Diego Comic Con in the morning! It’s very exciting – this will be my second official SDCC and while I’m technically going for fun once again this year, there’s no reason that I still can’t report back to everyone about all the relevant and exciting Brit-related news from this year’s convention.

Panels and screenings that might be of interest to you all that I’m going to do my best to attend:

Screening of CBS’ new Sherlock Holmes adaptation Elementary and panel Q&A with Jonny Lee Miller, Lucy Liu and more. Takes place Thursday evening.

The Hobbit panel with Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Peter Jackson and more. Takes place Saturday afternoon.

The Nerdist podcast live event with Torchwood’s John Barrowman. Takes place Friday night.

Doctor Who panel with Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill, Steven Moffat and Caroline Skinner. Takes place Sunday, mid-afternoon

There’s also a Merlin panel happening which is, yet again, unfortunately scheduled so that it conflicts with Doctor Who. We’ll see if I can swing it though. The full schedule is here - if you have suggestions for things you’d like me to try and cover (no promises, but if I can, I’ll see if I can swing it!), let me know.

If you're interested you can keep up with the action as happens on Twitter either here or here. Keep your fingers crossed that my phone battery lasts a good long while. (Either that or I luck into an open power outlet fairly often; that's the real unicorn of SDCC!)

We’ll be back to business as usual next week!
