Random Photo Time: Cute Behind-the-Scenes Shot From Sherlock Series 3 Filming

Speedy’s Café is the real life restaurant that resides next door to the fictional 221b Baker Street on Sherlock. The folks that work there are quite active on Twitter, are very friendly and seem to have loved the explosion of popularity that the worldwide success of the show has brought to the doorstep of their shop. As is evidenced by the photo they shared last week from the first round of London location filming on Series 3.

Yeah, that’s star Benedict Cumberbatch and new (recurring?) cast member Amanda Abbington hanging out having a morning cuppa (though I suspect that’s actually coffee, she said, applying the deductive skills learned from watching too many hours of this show) in the real life version of the shop that’s been on the show already as itself. It’s a bit extra meta, maybe, but the picture’s still cute.

Sherlock Series 3 Production is Finally Underway!

Nope, that’s not a typo in the headline – the event we’ve all been waiting for is finally happening – production on the highly anticipated third series of Sherlock is officially underway! While actual filming doesn’t commence until next Monday (March 18), the cast assembled for a read-through of the script of the first episode slated to be shot for the new season. No idea what episode they read today, but since co-creator Mark Gatiss has traditionally been the fastest writer to finish his Sherlock scripts, the smart money is on this being the one based on reunion story The Empty House, whatever they choose to call it. (Start stockpiling your tissues now, maybe?)

The best part of all of this is that finally there is actually some new Sherlock information to report – carry on reading for some new production details, casting tidbits and a slightly larger version of what is possibly the best new photo ever (which you can see to your left).

First Look at Doctor’s Matt Smith and New Companion Jenna-Louise Coleman

The BBC has released the first official photos of Doctor Who star Matt Smith on location with brand new companion Jenna-Louise Coleman. Now we can actually get a look at Smith and Coleman together – if not strictly in action –and, I have to admit, this did sort of stoke my excitement for the series’ return. Shooting is well under way on the Doctor’s latest adventure and the second read-through featuring Coleman’s character took place this week at the BBC’s Roath Lock Studios, according to the network.

Doctor Who Series 7 is set to premiere this Fall, with Coleman taking over as the new companion in the TARDIS starting from the Christmas special. It’s been previously revealed that current companions Amy and Rory Pond (played by the fabulous Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill) will be departing the show during a “heartbreaking” storyline in the season’s fifth episode. For me, the jury’s out on Coleman until we see some actual footage. She looks adorable, but I can’t get anything about her character from a couple of pictures (other than the fact that I seriously covet that red bag she’s sporting). She looks awfully young, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, nor is it even particularly new ground for this show as far as casting goes. We’ll all have to wait and see.

One snap judgment I do have to share though: I love Eleven's new outfit! Click through and take a look for yourself!
