Former Doctor Who star David Tennant has been playing all sorts of roles since he left the TARDIS nearly a decade ago now. From a snarky, but soft-hearted demon in Good Omens to a mind-controlling monster in Jessica Jones and a tortured detective in Broadchurchwe already know he can pretty much do anything. And his newest role seems determined to test that theory.

So, it may have taken David Tennant a few years post-Doctor Who to become a proper big name star, but he certainly seems to be everywhere these days now. (Not that I am complaining, let’s be clear.)

Tennant’s next project is something a bit different for the actor of late – a comedy. Tennant is set to play Walt in upcoming HBO limited series Camping. The eight-episode comedy will tell the story of a celebratory camping trip in honor of Walt’s 45th birthday, which quickly becomes a disaster. Watch its first trailer and see what you think!

Former Doctor Who star David Tennant has officially joined the cast of upcoming HBO limited comedy series Camping.

Tennant will play Walt, an “obedient” husband and loving father who serves as the linchin of his male social group. The story centers on a celebratory camping trip in honor of his 45th birthday, an event that was supposed to be a “delightful weekend back to nature,” but which turns into a disaster in short order.

Bonfire Night is almost upon us - that annual UK tradition which involves fireworks, general merrymaking and, yes, bonfires, all in celebration of that time that a 17th century plotter named Guy Fawkes tried to blow up Parliament and failed. As the description implies, the evening is filled with some fairly loud celebrations, all of which can terrify our beloved four-legged friends who have no idea what's going on.

Luckily, the Doctor is here to help.
