Benedict Cumberbatch Imitating Otters Will Brighten Up Your Day

Benedict Cumberbatch as an otter.

We all know Benedict Cumberbatch is pretty perfect, right?

In the past year or so, the Sherlock star has done Shakespeare, read love letters, filmed a new episode of the world’s most popular detective show, gotten cast as the lead in a Marvel movie, been nominated for an Oscar, read a poem for the funeral of a long-dead British monarch, and generally been a great sport about the approximately one million internet memes about him that are going around at any given moment.

The most famous Cumberbatch-related internet phenomenon is probably the whole “Otters Who Look Like Benedict Cumberbatch” thing, which matched photos of otters with Cumberbatch sporting similar facial expressions.  It kind of became a thing online, and Cumberbatch has been asked about it before, which is only part of what makes this clip so incredibly awesome.

It’s official: Benedict Cumberbatch can do anything. Or, even if he can’t, watching him fail at something is guaranteed to be more fun than watching basically anyone else succeed.

So, if you’re having a bad day – today, or tomorrow or six weeks from now – just bookmark this page, so that you can forever have this clip at your finger tips, because it is 100% guaranteed to make you smile.

The Internet’s Favorite British Celebrity – was a guest on The Graham Norton Show this weekend to promote his upcoming Alan Turing biopic The Imitation Game. He shared his spot on the red couch with Call the Midwife’s Miranda Hart and Harry Potter’s Timothy Spall, but there’s absolutely no doubt that the Sherlock star is the one who stole the show.

Amazing Internet Things: Benedict Cumberbatch's Chewbacca Impression

So, does anyone else have a list of links that they turn to if they’re having a bad day? And you can just watch them whenever because they never stop being awesome and making you smile? Today’s Amazing Internet Thing is one of those.

(It’s really not an internet thing in the strictest sense, however, as it’s not a fan creation or anything like that, but since it’s a clip that lives on the internet and is not exactly new news at this point, I’m going with it. Indulge me, thank you muchly.)

Anyway. Sherlock star and general internet heartthrob Benedict Cumberbatch recently appeared on The Graham Norton Show to promote his Wikileaks drama The Fifth Estate, and it just so happens that one of the other guests on Norton’s red sofa that evening happened to be movie legend Harrison Ford. Both Cumberbatch and Ford have been rumored to be taking part in the Star Wars sequels that are currently in pre-production, though no casting details on any of those films have been released as yet. Plus, well, Ford’s already been in Star Wars, and apparently Cumberbatch is a big fan, so there’s no way this topic wasn’t going to come up.

And that’s how we know that we can add the Wookie Chewbacca to Cumberbatch’s impressive list of on-point celebrity impressions. Which is basically the definition of must-watch.

Watch: Benedict Cumberbatch Has an Alan Rickman Impersonation Competition with Jimmy Fallon

Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch has been seemingly everywhere the past few days, promoting the upcoming release of his new drama The Fifth Estate, where he plays the notorious Julian Assange. While many of you will probably have some conflicting opinions (as I did) about the film itself, it’s hard to feel anything but giddy about all of Cumberbatch’s various promotional appearances, which have run the gamut from his standard default setting of charming to unbelievably fantastic.

Apparently Fallon and Cumberbatch both do an impersonation of British star Alan Rickman. So, of course, the two had to have a competition to compare their respective Rickman versions. And what better proving ground than the world of hip hop lyrics? Obvious, as Sherlock Holmes would say.

Yes, you read that right. Hip hop lyrics. Watch below. It’ll be the best thing you see all day.
