Eddie Redmayne to Star in ‘Harry Potter’ Spinoff ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’

What do you do after you win an Oscar for playing the world’s most famous theoretical physicist? Join the Harry Potter universe, apparently.

Eddie Redmayne, who recently picked up the Best Actor statue for his performance as Stephen Hawking in biopic The Theory of Everything has officially been cast as the lead in Potter spinoff/pseudo-prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

He will play “magizoologist” Newt Scamander, author of the famous Hogwarts textbook that gives the film its title.

J.K. Rowling to Publish New ‘Harry Potter' Story for Halloween

If Halloween wasn’t already one of your favorite holidays, if you love the Harry Potter books at all, it’s probably about to start moving its way up to Number One on your list in fairly short order.

Why? Well, in the wizarding universe created by J.K. Rowling, Halloween is basically like Christmas for young witches and wizards, but this year it’s Potter fans worldwide that are the ones getting a present. The author has announced that she’ll be releasing a new short story from the world of Hogwarts on October 31. (!!!!!)

British Actors You Should Know: David Bradley

Did you happen to watch An Adventure in Space and Time last week while we were all celebrating the Doctor Who 50th anniversary? If not, you should absolutely go find it on On Demand or iTunes, because it’s excellent, not for the least of which reason is because actor David Bradley is just stunning in the lead role.

After having seen that, we thought some people might be curious about what else the actor’s done, so he seemed an ideal choice for a profile in our British Actors You Should Know series. Much like previous BAYSK Bill Nighy, Bradley has been working in film, television and theater for several decades at this point, and this list is but a sampling of a long and successful career (there’s no way all his roles would fit in one blog post!), though he’s only really broken through into the pop culture mainstream in the past few years.

You’ve seen him in something though, for sure, even if you didn’t know who he was. Take a look at some of his more famous roles.

Amazing Internet Things: Harry Potter The Honest Trailer

The Honest Trailer guys have struck again and if you’re a Harry Potter fan who has ever seen any of the movies based on J.K. Rowling’s beloved books, you are absolutely going to want to watch this.

If you’ve never seen any of the Honest Trailers, here’s how it works: YouTube users screenjunkies regular send up popular major motion pictures by describing the general plot of the film in the most straightforward of terms. (The best example of this is probably the one that they did for Twilight, which is a tiny bit NSFW, but is absolutely hysterical.)

Anyway, the Honest Trailer folks have finally gotten around to immortalizing the beloved Harry Potter films in an extended trailer that encompasses all eight of them in one go. And it’s amazing.
