David Tennant Narrates Soothing Anti-Stress Videos for Pets

Bonfire Night is almost upon us - that annual UK tradition which involves fireworks, general merrymaking and, yes, bonfires, all in celebration of that time that a 17th century plotter named Guy Fawkes tried to blow up Parliament and failed. As the description implies, the evening is filled with some fairly loud celebrations, all of which can terrify our beloved four-legged friends who have no idea what's going on.

Luckily, the Doctor is here to help.

Sir Patrick Stewart Wins at Christmas

Okay, fine - technically Christmas is over. However, thanks to the internet, we're able to keep the holiday spirit alive and well for days after the presents are opened and the egg nog consumed. Which, thank goodness, becuase otherwise we'd miss out on utter gems like this video, which is basically the best present that the web could possibly provide for us this holiday season.

It is, basically, watching acting legend Sir Patrick Stewart crack up while wearing a dancing, musical Christmas elf hat. His reaction to the antics of his hat is so great, you'll be hard pressed to keep yourself from smiling as well. (And also you may start wondering where on earth such a horrific energetic Christmas accessory came from. No, seriously. Where?)

Happy Christmas: Let’s Celebrate with Tom Hiddleston and a Puppy

Happy Christmas, Telly Visions readers! (Or Happy Thursday and generally Winter-ish season, if this holiday’s not your particular thing.) The point is – today’s a day to appreciate and celebrate the people we care about, and we’re grateful that you all choose to stop by and read the blog regularly and comment and chat with us, today and every day. Y’all are awesome, and the best present a girl could ask for.

So, how best to celebrate such a special day? How about a cute video featuring The Avengers and The Hollow Crown star Tom Hiddleston? There’s really no way to go wrong with that combination, yeah?

So get yourself in the proper holiday spirit – or soothe your irritation that Santa didn’t bring you the properly British gear you were hoping for - by watching the Internet’s Other Boyfriend (Who Isn’t Benedict Cumberbatch) team up with iconic Nashville singer Rodney Crowell to celebrate Christmas in song.

Oh, yeah, and he’s holding a puppy through all of this, in case you didn’t think that the cuteness level was cranked up high enough already.

'The Simpsons' Parodies 'Downton Abbey' Again with a Bloody 'Itchy and Scratchy' Spoof

It’s official – literally everyone has made a Downton Abbey parody. Or so it seems.

It’s not enough that long-running pop culture staple The Simpsons already did a version of the show’s opening credits in the style of Downton last year, this time the show has decided to feature the mega-hit costume drama as part of its incredibly violent in-series cartoon The Itchy and Scratchy Show.

Because nothing says posh period costumes and a rigid class structure like buckets of animated violence, right?

Benedict Cumberbatch and the 'Sesame Street' Muppets are Your Must See Clip of the Day

In case you thought the conclusion of Sherlock Series 3 would mean seeing less of star Benedict Cumberbatch in your life, well, here's some good news - that's apparently never going to happen. And - bonus - this particular bit may be one of Cumberbatch's absolute best appearances yet. It's even educational!

In a truly awesome moment that appears to have been put together during Cumberbatch's appearance at the recent Television Critics Association Press Tour, Cumberbatch hangs out with the Count and Murray, a couple of the beloved Muppets from iconic children's show Sesame Street. Murray manages to get in some Sherlock jokes, including a funny reference to finale episode His Last Vow. A battle of wits over - what else - counting ensues, the Count is called in to assist, and the result is basically perfection. Plus, you know, there's a lesson about math in there too. So, it's fun for the whole family.

'Sherlock' Mini Episode 'Many Happy Returns' Sets the Stage for Series 3

The BBC has released an absolutely amazing seven minute mini-episode prequel clip for Sherlock Series 3 that’s basically better than anything you’re going to get from Santa this year. No kidding.

No, seriously. Admittedly, some of us (cough yours truly cough) may have not have expected much from this particular prequel clip, given Steven Moffat’s track record with enjoyable-but-not-quite-vital similar clips for Doctor Who.

However, yours truly is quite happy to be wrong in this particular instance, because Many Happy Returns is fantastic. Featuring appearances from a huge chunk of the major cast, including Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and Rupert Graves, as well as a surprising emotional punch, it’s well worth a chunk of your morning to watch.

So, stop whatever you’re doing and check out the full clip below.

An Awesome Present: 'Sherlock' Christmas Mini-Episode to Arrive December 25

Looks like Santa is bringing Sherlock fans something special this year!

While the hotly anticipated third series of the mega-popular crime drama doesn’t air until the new year (January 1 in the UK, January 19 in America), the BBC has announced that a special Christmas mini-episode will be screened on its Red Button interactive platform this December. The new segment will be called Many Happy Returns and will go live on Christmas Day.

'Doctor Who' 50th Anniversary Mini-Episode 'The Night of the Doctor' Features a Big Surprise

With just over a week to go until beloved sci-fi series Doctor Who turns 50, the official promotion surrounding the anniversary celebrations is kicking into high gear and Whovians everywhere are just a little bit excited at this point.

We’ve had a couple of really mind-blowing trailers for The Day of the Doctor and we’ve got a whole week of Who-related programming starting November 18, including a feature-length TV film about the origins of our favorite series.

Now there’s even a special mini-episode to really make everyone crazy. It’s called The Night of the Doctor and, without spoiling the surprise of this seven-minute clip, it seems safe to say that it’s going to blow your mind.

Celebrate the Premiere of 'The Hollow Crown': Take Our Quiz Inspired by Shakespeare’s Henriad!

Highly anticipated Shakespeare mini-series The Hollow Crown premieres September 20 on Great Performances and – to the surprise of no one, mostly likely – we’ve got more than a few fans of this production (and the Bard, generally) around the office here. The series assembles four of Shakespeare’s most famous history plays - Richard II; Henry IV, Part I; Henry IV, Part Two; and Henry V – into a single chronological narrative, and stars such notable British thespians as Ben Whishaw, Jeremy Irons, Tom Hiddleston, Rory Kinnear, Michelle Dockery, Patrick Stewart, David Suchet and (a lot) more.

(If, for some reason, you’ve not heard of this production before, take a second to watch the UK and US trailers – and then cancel whatever plans you had for the weekend.)

To celebrate the launch of this highly anticipated drama, we put together a little character quiz based on some of the main figures featured in Shakespeare’s Henriad (that’s the fancy name for this particular quartet of plays). So if you’ve ever wondered whether you’re more a Richard II or a Hotspur, well, now’s your chance to find out.

Click here to take the quiz for yourself – and let us know which character you got in the comments!
