Q&A Panels

Watch: Full Television Academy Webcast with the 'Downton Abbey' Cast

Having Downton Abbey withdrawal? Of course you are. We all are. Thankfully, we’ve got a particularly fabulous tidbit to help get us through the (seemingly endless) wait for Series 5.

The Television Academy of Arts & Sciences hosted a special event for its members in Los Angeles on May 3rd which featured appearances by several members of the Downton cast and crew and was streamed live over the internet as it happened. Part Series 4 retrospective, part general show discussion, there’s plenty of fun here for all who love the megahit costume drama.

Stars Joanne Froggatt, Phyllis Logan, Sophie McShera and Robert James-Collier all took part, along with series creator Julian Fellowes and executive producer Gareth Naeme. It was actually pretty fun to watch some members of the cast who may not get in front of the media as frequently get the chance to shine. McShera, for example, is completely adorable, and I promise you’ll be so charmed by James-Collier that you’ll basically forget how much you hate Thomas.

‘Sherlock’s' Benedict Cumberbatch Talks Fame, Social Media and Having a Weird Face in Hour-Long ‘In Conversation’ Q&A

What better way could there be to spend your long weekend than listening to Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch talk for an hour? (Spoiler: The answer is there isn’t one. Yes, even you, House of Cards binge watchers. Take a break. This is worth it, I promise.)

Cumberbatch sat down for an in-depth Q&A session with The Hollywood Reporter’s Scott Fienbeg last week, to discuss all manner of topics. His appearance served as the kick-off for a new series called “In Conversation,” a forum sponsored by BAFTA New York and The Hollywood Reporter, intended to provide artists with an outlet through which to discuss the creative process in depth.

This inaugural “Conversation” was held in front of a live audience comprised of BAFTA members and journalists last week in New York at The Standard High Line hotel. The event was recorded and THR released a full version of the event this weekend.

'Downton Abbey' Series 4 NYC Screening & Cast Q&A Report: Plus, Watch for Yourselves!

Hi guys – miss me? I was out of the office on vacation, which was lovely, but wow, it’s nice to be back! Tweet me with anything good I’ve missed!

Last week, I was privileged enough to attend a Downton Abbey fan and social media screening with the cast and producers in New York. Talk about an amazing opportunity! Not only did we get to see the first hour of Downton Series 4, we also got to watch a question and answer session featuring creator Julian Fellowes, producer Gareth Naeme, and several members of the series’ cast, including Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Phyllis Logan, Allen Leech, Lesley Nichols, and Robert James-Collier . The conversation was wide-ranging and super interesting – the Downton crew talked about everything from the new season, to how the show’s success has impacted their lives offscreen, to what things they miss the most abou the series’ 1920s setting when they have to return to real life.

Here are some highlights from my perspective, the best photos my iPhone camera could manage to capture (of course this is when my real camera battery decided to conk out!), and a link to watch the full Q&A panel yourself. Enjoy!

Last night a lot of lucky people in New York City got to attend a special discussion and Q&A panel with the Downton Abbey cast and basically hear all about the drama’s upcoming third series straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak. (No, I am certainly not dying of jealousy or anything. At all.)

Masterpiece executive producer Rebecca Eaton sat down with Downton Abbey stars Hugh Bonneville, Jim Carter, Rob James-Collier, Joanne Froggatt, Sophie McShera, as well as producer Gareth Neame and moderated a panel featuring many questions from a (very excited) audience on a variety of topics. There are a few tidbits here and there about things we can expect to see in Series 3, as well as some very interesting insights into several beloved characters.
