Rebecca Hall

Watch: Alan Rickman and ‘Game of Thrones’’ Richard Madden in ‘A Promise’ Trailer

It seems safe to say that one of the breakout stars of the 2013 television season was Scottish actor Richard Madden or, as you probably know him, that guy who played Robb Stark on HBO series Game of Thrones and was the focal point of that episode that basically broke the internet for a couple of days after it aired.

But, not to worry – you’ll be able to get your King in the North fix at the local multiplex soon enough. Or at least, so we hope.

Madden is starring in new film called The Promise opposite the always awesome Alan Rickman and Parade's End star Rebecca Hall. The period drama follows the story of Karl Hoffmeister (Rickman), a stuffy but respected ailing factory owner in pre-World War I Germany. Hoffmeister comes to rely more and more on the help of an up-and-coming young man named Ludwig (Madden) to handle factory business. Ludwig finds himself irresistibly drawn to Hoffmeister’s young wife, particularly after he takes on a role as a live-in tutor for her young daughter.

Parade’s End Finally Comes to America This February on HBO: Watch the First Teaser

Finally! Critically acclaimed BBC series Parade’s End has at long last gotten an American airdate!

The five-part drama is written by English playwright Sir Tom Stoppard (Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Arcadia) and stars Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch alongside The Town’s Rebecca Hall, with Adelaide Clemens, Miranda Richardson, Rupert Everett, Janet McTeer, Freddie Fox and more along for the ride. The drama aired in the UK last Fall and made it onto several critics’ “Best of 2012” television lists (including mine) at the end of the year.

Based on Ford Madox Ford’s quartet of novels, the series follows the story of English aristocrat Christopher Tietjens (Cumberbatch) and his wife Sylvia (Hall) from the last years of the Edwardian era through the end of the First World War.

Parade’s End will officially screen over three consecutive nights – February 26, 27 and 28 – on premium cable network HBO. Even though this news was just announced at the Winter session of the Television Critics Association press tour, HBO has already released a teaser trailer for the series and it’s lovely. Check it out for yourself after the jump.

First Look at Benedict Cumberbatch and Rebecca Hall in “Parade’s End”

For those of you who are feeling a lack of Edwardian drama in your life thanks to the Downton Abbey hiatus, fear not – there’s more on the way! The first official photo from upcoming BBC/HBO drama Parade’s End has been released, featuring Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch and The Town’s Rebecca Hall.

The five-part mini-series is written by acclaimed English playwright Sir Tom Stoppard (Arcadia, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead) and based on a series of four novels by Ford Madox Ford. I read some Ford in grad school, but unfortunately all I remember is that it was beautifully written and quite angsty. So I’m already into this, to be honest.

Click through for a synopsis of the plot and your first look at the stars, including Cumberbatch’s shockingly blonde new hairstyle which, in my extremely biased opinion, looks quite fetching.
