Enjoy Poldark while you can, folks, because the period drama’s days could be numbered.  Star Aidan Turner indicated that the popular series might not continue past its (as yet still-unconfirmed) fifth season.

During an interview with WWD, Turner was asked about how long he thought the show might run. His answer indicated that the period drama definitely has an end date on the horizon.  (Granted, that horizon is a ways away at present. But, still.)

It Sounds as if ‘Doc Martin’ Will Likely Continue Beyond Season 7

The seventh season of megapopular British comedy Doc Martin is currently airing around the US on PBS stations, and fans everywhere are curious about what the future of the show will be.

Each installment of Doc Martin has been rumored to be its last since sometime around Season 5 or so, and since the show only films every other year, there’s plenty of time for fans to fill talking and/or worrying about its future. Happily it looks like viewers can spend this particular hiatus in a slightly more zen state of mind, because from all indications it looks pretty likely the show will continue into Season 8, and possibly beyond that.

While no official announcement has come from the folks at ITV, the UK network that produces the show, it’s hard to imagine them not greenlighting an eighth season if all the major parties involved are amenable to it. And, according to Current, the media outlet that covers public and nonprofit media in the US, Season 8 sure seems to be happening.

So That ‘White Queen’ Sequel is Maybe Really Happening After All?

You guys remember The White Queen, right? It was this BBC miniseries that adapted several of Philippa Gregory’s popular historical novels about the Wars of the Roses. It aired here in the States on the premium cable network Starz and a lot of people liked it and were pretty sad to learn that it was a one-and-done sort of series, particularly when there’s so much story leftover after King Henry VII is crowned.

Anyway, despite the fact that the BBC announced that they were finished with the property, back in 2013 Starz seemed really into the prospect of doing some sort of sequel, most likely based on Gregory’s novel The White Princess. The novel follows the story of Elizabeth of York, daughter of White Queen Elizabeth Woodville, focusing on her marriage to Henry Tudor and their life together, which included the birth of multiple children, several rebellions and various other dramatic incidents.

That post has remained pretty popular on this site for the past year and a half, so it would seem the interest in this property is still there, despite the fact that no more news – or even confirmation that the project was in the works – seemed forthcoming. Many fans (probably) had given up on ever hearing anything else about The White Princess. (I may have been one of those people.)

Well, get ready, people, because it looks like The White Princess might just be happening after all.

Rumor Has It: ‘Downton Abbey’s’ Upcoming Sixth Season is Reportedly Its Last

Every since Downton Abbey Season 5 wrapped here in the US a few weeks ago, speculation about the show’s future has been rampant, pretty much everywhere. The start of filming on Season 6 has done little to tamp down on this topic, with another new speculative piece popping up every day.

What’s going on is this: Downton had already been renewed for a sixth season, which will likely screen in the UK this September and in America beginning in early January 2016. However, many of the cast’s contracts are ending following Season 6, and internet scuttlebutt says that many of them are ready to move on to other projects.

Popular entertainment site TV Line is now reporting that “multiple sources” have confirmed to them that Season 6 will, officially, be the show’s swan song.

But is this even true? Let's talk about it.

So ‘Doc Martin’ Season 7 is Apparently a Go

Despite the fact that no one seems to have officially announced anything about a seventh season of megapopular comedy series Doc Martin being a thing that’s happening, well: it actually really looks like it’s a thing that is happening.

This news undoubtedly comes as a welcome relief to fans, who’d previously been led to believe that the Britcom’s sixth season could be its last, but then, following the conclusion of this most recent outing, there was basically global radio silence about the whole thing. Until now.
