Watch: All Your Favorite British Actors Remake Classic American Films

It's a long running joke among anglophiles that British actors are positively taking over American film and television. Seriously, they're everywhere. Just take a look at this year's Oscar nominations, or turn your TV in the next few days (seriously, you'll trip over a Brit on some major network property within an hour or two).

Well, it appears that Vanity Fair also noticed this trend while putting together its 2015 Hollywood issue and, with the help of photographer Jason Bell, has created the ultimate tribute, in the form of a cheeky fake newsreel about Great Britain's war on Hollywood, which also re-imagines a bunch of your favorite classic American films remade with British actors. Spoiler alert: The whole thing is awesome. Really awesome.

Lily James and Richard Madden Star in Magical Live Action ‘Cinderella’ Trailer

Disney is bringing one of its most iconic animated heroines to life – in a film that’s positively stuffed full of fabulous British actors. The House of Mouse has released the first trailer for its live action version of film classic Cinderella – and it’s surprisingly good.

Downton Abbey’s Lily James trades in her flapper dresses for a ball gown as the titular Disney princess, and she gets the King in the North (also known as Game of Thrones’ Richard Madden) as her Prince Charming.

Director Kenneth Branagh has assembled a top-notch supporting cast, including Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother, Cate Blanchett as Cinderella’s wicked stepmother, and The Borgias’ Holliday Grainger and James’ own Downton co-star Sophie McShera as the horrible stepsisters.

‘Game of Thrones’ Richard Madden to Star with ‘The Borgias’ Holliday Grainger in ‘Lady Chatterley’s Lover’

The King in the North returns! Well, sort of. Game of Thrones star Richard Madden has signed on for his next big post-Westeros project, and will be starring opposite The Borgias Holliday Grainger in a splashy new BBC adaptation of classic novel Lady Chatterley’s Lover.

Granger, who played the infamous Lucretzia Borgia in Showtime’s The Borgias, will play Lady Constance Chatterley, a young woman whose handsome, upper-class husband has been paralyzed from the waist down due to a war injury. Faced with emotional as well as physical neglect, Constance’s frustration leads her into an affair with gamekeeper Oliver Mellors, played by Madden in what will surely be a significant shift from his recent role as a real-life Prince Charming in Disney’s forthcoming live-action Cinderella (in which he stars opposite Downton Abbey’s Lily James). James Norton – who recently appeared in Death Comes to Pemberley and Happy Valley – plays Constance’s husband, Sir Clifford Chatterley.

Watch: Alan Rickman and ‘Game of Thrones’’ Richard Madden in ‘A Promise’ Trailer

It seems safe to say that one of the breakout stars of the 2013 television season was Scottish actor Richard Madden or, as you probably know him, that guy who played Robb Stark on HBO series Game of Thrones and was the focal point of that episode that basically broke the internet for a couple of days after it aired.

But, not to worry – you’ll be able to get your King in the North fix at the local multiplex soon enough. Or at least, so we hope.

Madden is starring in new film called The Promise opposite the always awesome Alan Rickman and Parade's End star Rebecca Hall. The period drama follows the story of Karl Hoffmeister (Rickman), a stuffy but respected ailing factory owner in pre-World War I Germany. Hoffmeister comes to rely more and more on the help of an up-and-coming young man named Ludwig (Madden) to handle factory business. Ludwig finds himself irresistibly drawn to Hoffmeister’s young wife, particularly after he takes on a role as a live-in tutor for her young daughter.
