Watch: All Your Favorite British Actors Remake Classic American Films

It's a long running joke among anglophiles that British actors are positively taking over American film and television. Seriously, they're everywhere. Just take a look at this year's Oscar nominations, or turn your TV in the next few days (seriously, you'll trip over a Brit on some major network property within an hour or two).

Well, it appears that Vanity Fair also noticed this trend while putting together its 2015 Hollywood issue and, with the help of photographer Jason Bell, has created the ultimate tribute, in the form of a cheeky fake newsreel about Great Britain's war on Hollywood, which also re-imagines a bunch of your favorite classic American films remade with British actors. Spoiler alert: The whole thing is awesome. Really awesome.

Happy Christmas: Let’s Celebrate with Tom Hiddleston and a Puppy

Happy Christmas, Telly Visions readers! (Or Happy Thursday and generally Winter-ish season, if this holiday’s not your particular thing.) The point is – today’s a day to appreciate and celebrate the people we care about, and we’re grateful that you all choose to stop by and read the blog regularly and comment and chat with us, today and every day. Y’all are awesome, and the best present a girl could ask for.

So, how best to celebrate such a special day? How about a cute video featuring The Avengers and The Hollow Crown star Tom Hiddleston? There’s really no way to go wrong with that combination, yeah?

So get yourself in the proper holiday spirit – or soothe your irritation that Santa didn’t bring you the properly British gear you were hoping for - by watching the Internet’s Other Boyfriend (Who Isn’t Benedict Cumberbatch) team up with iconic Nashville singer Rodney Crowell to celebrate Christmas in song.

Oh, yeah, and he’s holding a puppy through all of this, in case you didn’t think that the cuteness level was cranked up high enough already.

Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie to Star in John le Carre’s ‘The Night Manager’

Alert, alert: Tom Hiddleston is headed back to television!

Yes, America’s current British obsession – that isn’t Benedict Cumberbatch anyway – has lined up yet another major role for everyone to get excited about - especially as this time it’s going to be on your television set. And since this latest bit of casting awesomeness not only puts Hidldeston in a drama series opposite the great Hugh Laurie, it gives him a role in a project based on a 1993 John le Carre novel, well. There’s a heck of a lot to be happy about here.

Surprise, Tom Hiddleston Performs Hank Williams (Twice) at Wheatland Festival

It’s common knowledge that actor Tom Hiddleston is one of the Britishiest Brits around at the moment, so it’s not surprising that people are a bit skeptical about the news that he’s set to play iconic American country music star Hank Williams in an upcoming biopic entitled I Saw the Light. Yeah, that’s really a thing that is happening. (Honestly, you might find it’s something that, the more you think about it, the more intriguing the idea becomes. Or that could just be me, I don’t know.)

Anyway, yeah, the film is set to follow the uber dramatic story of Hank Williams’ meteoric rise to fame in his early teens, his subsequent struggles with drug and alcohol abuse, and his shocking death at the age of 29. And we all know that Hiddleston’s a pretty good actor who’s played a wide range of roles, so what we’re all really curious about is, can he sing?

Luckily, Hiddleston himself seems to be fairly eager to answer that question. Last weekend, the actor put in a surprise appearance at the Wheatland Music Festival in Michigan, and hit the stage to get his Hank on.

Watch him perform two of Williams’ classics below.

Benedict Cumberbatch, Matt Smith and a Slew of Other Brits Take the Ice Bucket Challenge for Charity

As you’ve no doubt seen on some form of social media at some time over the last week, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, a viral online campaign which encourages people to dump ice water over themselves to raise money and awareness for organizations supporting research into and treatment of the neurodegenerative disease ALS is the biggest thing going on the internet right now. (FYI, ALS is also known as Motor Neurone disease in Britain.) The idea is that you face down the bucket of ice water then nominate three friends to do the same within 24 hours and make a donation.

Pretty much every famous person you can think of has done this – from President George W. Bush to Oprah Winfrey to Bill Gates to Chris Pratt. And, of course, everyone’s favorite Brit of the moment, Benedict Cumberbatch. Who, quite frankly, may have done the most epic take on the challenge yet.

Tom Hiddleston to Play Country Music Icon Hank Williams in New Film

This is not a joke: Avengers star and general internet heartthrob Tom Hiddleston has officially signed on to play iconic American country music star Hank Williams.

Yup. Straight out of the “Never Saw That Coming” casting files – and per Deadline Hollywood – it’s true. Hiddleston – one of the Britishiest British actors around these days – will not only be doing an Alabama accent, he’ll be singing too, including such Williams classics as “Your Cheatin’ Heart,” “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” and “Hey, Good Lookin’.” (Here’s a snippet of Hiddleston singing, if you’re wondering if he’s got a voice or not.)

Entitled I Saw the Light, the film will tell the story of Williams’ meteoric rise to fame during his early teens, his subsequent battles with alcohol and prescription drug abuse, and his shocking death at the age of just 29. (The story of how Hank Williams died is probably enough to power a movie on its own, honestly.)

Get a Behind the Scenes Look at Tom Hiddleston’s Trip Around the ‘Top Gear’ Track

What happens when you mix internet darling Tom Hiddleston with global phenomenon Top Gear? Something awesome, obviously. (We're only just past the second episode, but let's hear it for Series 21, yeah? Applause all around for the celebrity line-up thus far in my book.)

The Thor and The Hollow Crown star recently appeared as the Star in a Reasonably-Priced Car on the mega-popular driving series and did a lap of the Top Gear race track in a 1.6 Tech Line Vauxhall Astra. Sadly, this did not occur in a Loki costume, but I guess we can’t have everything.

There are glasses though, if that’s your thing.

Watch for yourselves below.
