Amazing Internet Things: Sherlock vs. Doctor Who: The Musical

My ever-expanding personal “Wholock” obsession means that I watch a lot of random videos on the internet about two of my favorite topics: Sherlock and Doctor Who. Generally this newfound hobby results in lots of disappointment, but every so often you end up finding some real gems, as I’ve highlighted before.

This particular amazing internet thing actually comes to us straight from the Twitter of the man himself, executive producer Steven Moffat. Click through to see some truly creative video editing from YouTube user Lilsakee, in a clip which pits Sherlock vs. the Doctor, set to the tune of “Anything You Can Do” from Annie Get Your Gun. It’s pretty much guaranteed to leave you with a serious case of the giggles.

And don’t worry for those concerned about spoilers – while there are a couple of shots from Series 2 in this clip, it doesn’t give anything away about the new season!

Amazing Internet Things: A Truly Epic Sherlock/Doctor Who Crossover Video

Confession time: I think I have a problem. Specifically, a “Wholock” problem. And it’s sort of getting out of hand. Quite frankly, I blame the Best Rumor Ever from yesterday for keeping my brain on the Sherlock + Doctor Who = amazing track over the past twenty four hours. As a result, we end up with posts featuring epic “Wholock” crossover videos.

The “Wholock” phenomenon has been mentioned here before –it’s basically the brainchild of fervent fans who would like nothing better than to see some sort of crossover between Steven Moffat’s two series, Doctor Who and Sherlock.

Since these two shows do seem to share a great deal of the same fans, it was probably only a matter of time until something like this video was created. One particularly talented individual made a “Wholock” movie trailer that mashes up the storylines from both series’ recent seasons. And, seriously, it’s awesome.

HUGE WARNING THOUGH: While this video is, indeed, an incredibly amazing internet thing, it is also chock full of SERIOUSLY MASSIVE Sherlock Series 2 spoilers. Please tread with caution and just bookmark this page for later on if you’re avoiding such things until after the episodes air. For those who still want to see it, or have already spoiled themselves silly via other avenues, feel free to click right on through.

Sherlock Plus Doctor Who Equals Possibly the Greatest (Unintentional?) TV Crossover Ever

Those of us who are fans of both of Steven Moffat’s current productions – Doctor Who and Sherlock – all basically harbor a secret dream that one day someone on one of those series is going to make some sort of wink-wink-nudge-nudge reference to the other and then we’ll all basically pass out from an overload of geek joy. (There’s even an entire sort of interesting fandom subset called “Wholock” which basically exists to further crossover ideas and things. Internet, you really never fail to impress me.)

Except it appears that that sort of actually happened? Maybe? Well, we’re not sure. But it might have.

Click through for the full story – and don’t worry, those that are concerned about spoilers, even though I’m about to talk about something that takes place in a Series 2 episode, it reveals nothing of the plot unless you were unaware that The Hound of the Baskervilles involves some creepy outdoor settings.
