Isabel Bozarth

Isabel is currently a senior at the George Washington University majoring in Photojournalism and minoring in Art History. Inclined by archives, she yearns for a career as an archivist or collections manager. Her background in art history and interest in archives is the backbone of her passion for local history. Born and raised in Oklahoma City, her inclination for historical storytelling came from two sources, her Nana who served as the City Clerk for forty-one years, and her grandmother who always had a knack for oral histories. 

Isabel seeks to further her education in obtaining her master's in library and information sciences.

In the 1890s, Frances Benjamin Johnston opened a photography studio on V St., NW, in Washington, DC. Defying gender norms, she established herself as a White House portrait photographer, a photo journalist, and historic preservationist. By the end of her life, some called her "the greatest woman photographer in the world," but her most well-known work gained attention decades after her death.
